He and Isabelle existed in silence for a long while… Karl-Franz held the woman as she cried in his chest. So much needed to be said between them, and yet none at all.
It was his way of apologizing, profusely for his behavior. For all these years. It wasn't some grand gesture, or a vain promise.
He simply held her, for the first time, with actual concern, and care, as she let out all the pain, all the tears that had plagued her heart for so long.
By the time she finally recovered, he was still there, and she grabbed his cheek, pinching it, causing a slight wince as he gently took her hand and chuckled.
"Yes, I'm still here, you weren't dreaming."
Isabelle sighed in relief. Sitting down on her bed, as she shook her head in total disbelief.
"I didn't think…. I didn't believe you would choose me. I thought you came all this way for her…."
Karl-Franz sighed… deeply in thought. Before he finally spoke on the matter.
