Chapter 15 - Chapter 5 (Part 1)

Chapter 5: Overestimating Oneself

Guided by the waiter, Fan Xia quickly arrived at a private room. Rong Xiu lay on the sofa, reeking of alcohol, his face flushed from drinking. His frameless glasses sat crookedly on his high, straight nose bridge, his tie loosened, revealing the skin at his collar. His eyes were tightly shut, the slightly upturned, narrow eyes tinged with a faint redness from the alcohol.

"Is this Miss Fan Xia? You've finally arrived. Mr. Rong has been here for quite a while, and we've been taking care of him. Please take him home quickly," Chen Yu Ze, pretending to be an ordinary waiter, said with relief.

Upon seeing Fan Xia's face clearly, his eyes flashed with undisguised admiration, finally understanding why Rong Xiu was so deeply entangled and unable to extricate himself.

"Thank you, I'll take the CEO away now," Fan Xia thanked him, then supported the now unconscious Rong Xiu as they left.

Fan Xia scooped up his arm and placed it over her shoulder, while her other hand supported his waist as she helped him leave the club.

Due to his drunkenness, his body was as soft as a puddle of warm water, obediently leaning against her. His heavy breathing, tinged with the sweet scent of alcohol, felt like fire as it blew against her ear, stimulating her sensitive skin and causing a slight shiver.

Fan Xia lowered her head, her long hair falling down, hiding the expression in her eyes.

As they left the club, the rain grew heavier, and a damp mist began to rise in the night.

Fortunately, she had parked just outside the entrance, only about a dozen steps away. If they walked quickly, they wouldn't get too wet from the rain.

However, she had underestimated how difficult it was to control a drunk person. Rong Xiu's steps were unsteady; after just two steps, he would lose strength and almost fall. Fan Xia had no choice but to tightly hold his slim yet strong waist and slow down their pace.

The drizzling rain soaked Fan Xia's long hair. Rong Xiu was in an even worse state, with his wet bangs hanging down to his brow bone, and countless small water droplets forming on his frameless glasses. In the misty rain, his wet white shirt clung to his body, vaguely revealing the firm lines of his waist.

Fan Xia averted her gaze, finally managing to get him into the car.

Watching the rainwater drip from his delicately contoured chin, his skin as fine as porcelain glowed translucently in the rising steam. His wet white shirt, half-revealing his silhouette, was both concealing and alluring.

Fan Xia quickly looked away, taking a coat from the back seat and covering him with it.

She removed his frameless glasses, now obscured by rainwater, revealing the naturally alluring wine-red birthmark at the corner of his left eye, softening his usually cold and unapproachable aura.

"CEO, CEO?" Fan Xia called softly.

Rong Xiu didn't respond. Fan Xia whispered 'excuse me' and lightly patted his face with her palm. Her fingertips touched the small birthmark at the corner of his left eye, feeling cool and smooth, like holding white jade.

Rong Xiu's tightly closed lashes fluttered lightly, like small fans of the silk tree, brushing against her fingertips.

"CEO?" she called again.

Rong Xiu slowly opened his eyes. Without his glasses, his eyes were initially confused, then he stared directly at her, clearly still not fully awake.

Fan Xia asked gently, "CEO, where is your home? I'll take you back."

Rong Xiu was silent for a long time, his gaze still bewildered, as if he didn't understand what she was saying.

Fan Xia coaxed him, asking several times before he finally gave her the address.

Yunshui Bay, the top-tier wealthy area of the capital, nestled against mountains and waters, where each villa enjoyed a private sea view.

Fan Xia supported the half-awake, half-drunk Rong Xiu into the villa. The decoration style was as cold and ascetic as his own temperament. There weren't many items in the house, and not a single person was present, making it feel less like a home and more like an ice cave.

It seemed this wasn't the main Rong family residence, but rather a private property Rong Xiu had purchased separately.

But thinking about it, it made sense. For someone as strong-willed as Rong Xiu, who could casually say things like "It's better if father doesn't acknowledge me, just kick him out of the board too" - which would be considered utterly disrespectful by most people - his relationship with his family probably wasn't very good.

"CEO, you're home," Fan Xia supported Rong Xiu up to the second-floor bedroom, but his drunken hands suddenly hooked around her neck. His slightly heaving chest pressed tightly against hers, and he buried his head in the crook of her neck, nuzzling like a little cat.

Outside the window, the soft patter of rain seemed like a special catalyst, creating an inexplicable ambiguity.

Fan Xia tightly gripped the stair railing, took a deep breath, and helped Rong Xiu into the bedroom before leaving without looking back.
