James paced back and forth in his living room, phone pressed to his ear. "I don't care what it takes, get me everything you can on Detective Lance," he barked before ending the call. He'd been on edge since the phone call last night, and the waiting was eating away at him.
Susan watched him with concern, her hands wringing together. "Honey, maybe we should reconsider this meeting. It really feels off." She'd always trusted his instincts, but this time, she couldn't shake off the feeling of impending doom.
James shook his head, placing the small pistol he had gotten on the centre table. "I need to know what he knows. I need to be able to protect Stacey." He'd do whatever it took to keep his daughter safe.
Susan nodded, though her eyes betrayed her fear. "Be careful, honey. Please. I know you're doing this for Stacey, but remember, she still needs you alive… I need you alive." She knew he'd never back down from a quest, and this time, the stakes were higher than ever.
