The next morning began with what Samantha could only describe as "costume drama."
Marcus stood in front of their bedroom mirror, adjusting a tie for the third time. "Do environmental consultants wear ties?"
"You're overthinking it," Callum said, already dressed in what he'd called "professional tactical"—dark slacks, button-down shirt, and a blazer that probably concealed at least two weapons.
"I'm appropriately thinking it," Marcus corrected. "If we don't look the part, this entire plan falls apart before we even get on site."
Kai emerged from the closet wearing ripped jeans and a leather jacket. "I'm ready."
"You're supposed to be anonymous," Samantha reminded him. "You can't tip off the fire marshal looking like you're about to audition for a motorcycle gang."
"This is my anonymous look."
"This is your 'please arrest me, I'm clearly up to something' look."
"She has a point," Callum agreed.
