Cheng Su looked at Mother Qi lying on the hospital bed with an IV drip of nutrients, and let out a sigh.
Not even allowed a peaceful old age—Mother Qi was a living proof of that saying. Her days had been as good as they could be: her children all successful, a grandchild already born, nothing left for her to worry about. It was just the time for her to enjoy life, yet out of nowhere disaster struck and she had to suffer such a calamity.
So lamentable, so pitiful!
She walked over, smoothed down her disheveled hair, and her gaze moved from Mother Qi's pale face to her hand wrapped in bandages. From now on, she would be missing one finger!
Fortunately, it was the little finger, the one of least use; a stroke of luck within great misfortune.
Qi Taiguo walked in and saw Cheng Su tucking Mother Qi's hand back under the quilt; his expression unconsciously softened and he went over.
"Got all the paperwork done?" Cheng Su asked quietly when she saw him come in.
