Days were slowly improving in a methodical pattern. Even though hope was not visible, things were still improving.
Xu Si watched him take his pills one by one before she brought up the matter of the properties.
"I'm returning these properties to you."
Pei Zhen paused for a moment, then turned his handsome eyes toward her. "Why? You obviously wanted them."
Xu Si's lips couldn't help but curl up slightly. "I wanted them because I didn't know they were your properties. If there was a chance to acquire them and they appreciated in value while in someone else's hands, I'd feel like I'd lost out. But since they're yours, it doesn't matter. I went to see them yesterday; the view is truly nice. We can stay there occasionally, and you can listen to the sound of the waves every day."
Pei Zhen didn't speak. He just picked up the property deeds and put them back into her purse, very deliberately keeping his sunburned hand out of her sight so she wouldn't see it.
