Castle rushed into Jarvis's monitoring room with the chubby guy in tow. Within moments, he had all the data Jarvis had collected on Dekard Shaw's movements since he failed to assassinate Dominic in Azerbaijan and left the country. While Jarvis couldn't know Shaw's inner thoughts, Castle's analysis of his recent actions confirmed his suspicion.
This lone killer was truly relentless. Even after learning that his enemies had joined forces with the CIA, Shaw was unwilling to abandon his vendetta. Jarvis's surveillance even showed Shaw had contacted the warlord who had previously kidnapped Heydrich. Through this connection, Shaw had learned why Dominic's gang had appeared in Azerbaijan as CIA mercenaries: they were trying to rescue Heydrich so they could use his software to track Shaw.
Unaware of Heydrich's loyalty—he hadn't revealed the software, even under pressure from the warlord—Dekard Shaw, still fuming, had now teamed up with this humiliated warlord. Together, they had followed Dominic's gang to New York, intending to lure them into a final showdown. In New York City, the CIA and the biker gang couldn't use powerful weapons like the micro-missiles they'd deployed in Azerbaijan's mountainous terrain, meaning Shaw, now with the warlord's support, actually held the advantage.
Castle studied the extensive data Jarvis displayed on Shaw's recent movements and his communications with the warlord. It wasn't hard to decipher Shaw's plan: he wanted a battle to the death with the biker gang, who had nearly killed his brother and stolen Heydrich, the computer genius. What surprised Castle was Shaw's audacity to drag the fight into New York. This shift of attention onto Shaw, even if temporary, might just give the chubby guy a chance to break away from his entanglement with the CIA. Castle let out a dark chuckle at the irony.
Ramsey had already activated her surveillance software as Castle and the chubby guy entered the room. A massive screen in front of them showed multiple split-screen feeds, displaying the movements of Dominic's gang, the operatives in the CIA's safe house, the elusive Dekard Shaw in New York, and the warlord's forces, which had recently arrived in the city. Castle felt a wave of exhaustion watching these four groups, each with their own agenda.
Dekard Shaw's motive was clear, but that warlord—who thought he could storm into New York as if it were his playground? Did the USA not give this guy enough "guidance"? Or was he so inflated by his time as a warlord that he thought New York would welcome his antics?
As for Dominic's gang, while their desire to clear their records by helping the CIA take down Owen Shaw was understandable, teaming up with the cunning "invisible" operative to avoid Shaw's revenge was a reckless gamble. Now they were stuck in New York, facing a showdown with Dekard Shaw in Central Park. To Castle's horror, Shaw had actually set his battlefield right in the heart of Manhattan, in Central Park—Beckett's jurisdiction.
Castle let out a furious cry. "Damn you, Dekard Shaw! You shameless CIA and reckless bikers! How could you all ignore everything else and head to Central Park for a death match the moment Shaw showed up?"
Grinding his teeth, Castle watched the screens in frustration. The chubby guy and Ramsey knew why he was so enraged. Central Park was within Beckett's precinct. None of these parties—Dekard Shaw with his battle plans, the biker gang charging into danger, the operatives quietly mobilizing to capture Shaw, or the wildcard warlord—gave any thought to the NYPD. How could Castle allow this when he had been working to make Beckett's precinct one of the safest areas in New York?
While he'd been in Italy, Castle had already discussed donating two custom surveillance drones to Beckett's precinct upon his return to New York. These drones, named "Voyeur X," would ensure the Twelfth Precinct was the best-equipped in the city. Castle had also hinted to Beckett about Ramsey's surveillance software, explaining it as an experimental system developed with her supercomputer, though it couldn't be made public due to the USA's strict privacy concerns. If word got out, it would attract an onslaught from intelligence agencies.
Castle wanted Beckett to hire Ramsey as a consultant for the Twelfth Precinct, where she'd help track suspects on request without having to be physically present. He was determined to make Beckett stand out as one of the city's youngest and most successful captains. With Benjamin set to become the next president, Castle saw this as Beckett's chance to establish herself politically, with support from the White House, their party, and Castle's resources. If all went well, Beckett's future campaign for city council would be a walk in the park.
Having observed Beckett's recent shift in priorities—partly influenced by Gianna and her adorable daughter, Beckett was beginning to desire a more balanced life. This was a golden opportunity for Castle. He wanted to help her lead the safest precinct in New York. The Twelfth Precinct covered some of Manhattan's most affluent areas, and winning over the community would make her campaign for city council straightforward.
But now Dekard Shaw, of all people, had chosen Beckett's precinct as his battleground! Castle was livid. Was Shaw trying to undermine his efforts?
In a rage, Castle ordered the chubby guy to launch the two drones, which had yet to be officially donated to the precinct, and have them circle above Central Park. If a battle erupted, the park's security cameras or civilians' phones might not capture everything adequately, so having drones overhead would provide the precision and real-time data they needed. And if Shaw's warlord ally dared show up? Well, Castle's drones were equipped with a modified version of the "Ex-Wife" missile, just in case.
As Castle fumed, he couldn't help but smirk. If that warlord thought he could take on New York City, he'd soon be in for a nasty surprise.
