Chapter 608 - Chapter 617: An Unexpected Outcome

Upon learning that the "Anonymous" figure representing the CIA had reached out to Dominic, Castle shared his thoughts on the matter with his hacker friend, the chubby guy who had been worrying about him.

When the chubby guy heard that this bizarre situation was somehow linked to people he knew—Dominic and his crew—he was utterly dumbfounded. He couldn't wrap his head around why the CIA would pull such a crazy stunt. And Dominic's gang? Were they complete idiots? Did they honestly think that, as mere street racers, they could play hero? They actually let this "Anonymous" guy talk them into flying all the way to Azerbaijan to rescue their friend?

Couldn't these fools understand that if they wanted to find Deckard Shaw, all they had to do was ask Tej to contact him? With his network, finding Shaw would be a piece of cake. But no, they willingly followed this shady "Anonymous" figure, who didn't even dare reveal his real name, and signed up for a dangerous mission. Unbelievable.

The chubby guy restrained himself from reaching out to Tej, who could use their resources to help Dominic and his naive gang. He didn't want his IQ dragged down by getting involved with these fools. Besides, he knew that even if he used JARVIS or Ramsey's perfected "God's Eye" system to locate Deckard, his Uncle Rick wouldn't have objected.

However, sensing that Castle just wanted to sit back and watch the show, the chubby guy decided not to reach out to Tej after all.

From what he understood, his friend Heydrich's life wasn't in any real danger. If anything, Dominic's team was the ones at risk. Sure, they might be friends, but he wasn't about to get sentimental and risk his safety for this bunch who let the CIA lead them around like puppets.

Dominic and his crew were now on the CIA's radar, and if he helped them locate Shaw, the man who wanted them dead for his brother's death, there was a risk of attracting the CIA's attention himself. And knowing how the CIA was eyeing Heydrich's software that could rival the God's Eye, he figured that helping Dominic would be asking for trouble.

Since the intel showed that his German friend wasn't in immediate danger, he decided to stick to Uncle Rick's advice and wait to see how the street racers' escapades played out.

After reaching an agreement with Castle, the chubby guy embraced his inner spectator, allowing JARVIS to monitor the situation. So, while Dominic's gang was gearing up, he and Castle, each with their respective companions, enjoyed a relaxed vacation in Italy.

Meanwhile, the ever-optimistic Dominic had gathered his team, which now included Gisele, alive and well, still determined to avenge her fallen partner. Guided by "Anonymous," they headed to a CIA warehouse to pick out their cars.

Both Gisele and O'Connor had their doubts about this shadowy arrangement. However, O'Connor was swayed by Dominic's unwavering confidence, and Gisele, fueled by her need for revenge, stayed silent despite her suspicions.

As for the two jokesters of the crew? Well, no one asked for their opinion.

Thus, in a haze of overconfidence, the team boarded a military transport plane bound for the highlands of Azerbaijan.

From that alone, Castle noted how freely the CIA entered another nation's airspace, and yet, not one of the street racers noticed the oddity of it. Incredible.

Castle reflected that if it weren't for director Justin Lin's plot armor in the original story, there was no way these guys could have managed to rescue Ramsey from that well-armed warlord with just their modified cars.

Castle was curious to see how things would go this time, now that they were without a director to tip the scales in their favor. Would this overconfident bunch, marching into the fray without so much as a handgun, manage to pull off a miracle?

His expectations were low.

Surely, these street racers wouldn't just storm in weaponless, right? This wasn't a movie, after all. And since "Anonymous" was supplying them, maybe he'd throw in some arms along with the military plane?

Hoping for a good show, Castle even considered sending a couple of drones from his estate to monitor the scene in Azerbaijan. But the drones weren't designed for long-distance travel, so the idea was scrapped.

Castle felt a surge of annoyance at not owning his own satellites yet. Resolving to address this gap, he decided to order at least three satellites from Hughes Aerospace when he returned. For now, he had JARVIS hack into a few NASA satellites and military reconnaissance satellites that could cover the area in Azerbaijan, hoping this would provide a live feed.

Though he considered requesting a favor from Northrop, maybe even having the European Command fly in a new model of UAV he'd designed, he held back. He couldn't risk drawing CIA attention by explaining why he knew about this operation.

So, while Dominic's gang loaded onto the military transport, the chubby guy and Castle leisurely watched their every move through JARVIS's surveillance.

This time, with Gisele among them, they weren't charging in blindly. Her military experience in Israel led her to insist on arming themselves from the CIA warehouse. Dominic's team, realizing there was no harm in taking free weapons, left with quite a stockpile.

Among their gear was none other than Castle's own recent invention, the "Ex-Wife" micro-missiles in Army configuration, which Northrop had recently received for testing. This highlighted the CIA's impressive reach; it was no small feat to obtain a weapon still in experimental stages.

The gang was quick to choose this compact yet powerful missile system, each taking a launcher stocked with twelve rounds, far superior to an RPG. Gisele, with her keen eye, ensured they each had a set.

No one, not even Castle with his god's-eye view on the unfolding events, could have anticipated the outcome. As Dominic's team was parachuted into the Eastern European highlands, Castle's micro-missiles proved their worth. They decimated the warlord's entire convoy, including his vaunted armored bus, under a barrage of "Ex-Wife" fire.

In a twist that exceeded all expectations, Dominic's team succeeded, leveraging Castle's invention to level the playing field against the warlord's formidable defenses.
