The aroma of food filled the room. Jian Xi sat in the dining room, watching Nan Mufeng serve the dishes, impatiently waiting.
It's been such a long time since she had his cooking! It feels incredibly blissful today!
"All done." Nan Mufeng took off his apron and sat down at the other end of the table.
He didn't help her cut the steak...
Jian Xi pouted, "Honey, help me cut it. You used to always do it for me."
"Oh."
Only then did Nan Mufeng bring the steak over to himself and start cutting with a knife and fork.
Jian Xi rested her chin in her hand, smiling as she watched him slice the steak.
"There's more to eat," Nan Mufeng reminded. He heard pregnant women shouldn't go hungry.
"I'm waiting to eat with you," Jian Xi said.
She wore loungewear, her hair casually tied in a bun, without any makeup, yet her every gesture carried a refreshing warmth, like a spring breeze that made Nan Mufeng's heart itch.
It was truly a peculiar feeling.
