Chapter 15 - The One

Zen whispered to himself, "This is the same feeling I had when I fought Taotei. My blood is flowing faster, my heartbeat is rapid, my eyes are aching, and my entire body is hot." He clutched his chest, feeling the intensity of his pounding heart. "What is happening? Is it because of my eyes that this is happening? What does my eye even do? What does it hide, and what is its true purpose? What is its origin?" These questions swirled in Zen's mind, creating a whirlwind of doubt and curiosity. He was unconscious, his body operating on autopilot, yet his mind was a storm of contemplation. "Whatever it may be, for now, I must buy more time for Yawen and Rui," he resolved silently, his determination breaking through the haze. The summon sensed Zen's surging energy, the rhythmic pounding of his heart echoing through the silent chamber. "This is more extreme than when I fought Taotei," Zen murmured, his glowing eyes meeting the summon's gaze, the intensity of the moment crackling in the air.

The summon picked up its massive battle axe, its eyes glowing with a fierce intensity that matched the glowing bright purple and gold of Zen's eyes. This time, Zen's eyes didn't just glow—they emitted a beam of light, the intensity of which was far greater than anything he had experienced before. The summon's eyes mirrored this glow, signaling the beginning of an extraordinary clash.

Though unconscious, Zen's body moved with precision and power, guided by pure instinct. He faced the summons head-on, his mind in a dreamlike state while his body operated on its own. The summon launched the first attack, punching the pillars around them and hurling chunks of stone at Zen. With a grace that belied his unconscious state, Zen dodged each attack effortlessly, his movements a combination of speed and agility.

As Zen closed the distance between them, he launched a series of swift, powerful attacks. Each strike collided with the summon's defenses, pushing it back. Zen felt a surge of strength and speed unlike any he'd ever known. This time, he was truly going toe-to-toe with the summon, matching its power with his own. The entire hall became their battlefield, the sheer force of their combat destroying pillars, cracking the ground, and sending shockwaves reverberating through the chamber.

Zen was impressed by his own abilities and surprised that he could fight so effectively while unconscious. His body moved on instinct, evading the summon's attacks with a fluidity that seemed almost preternatural. The summon swung its massive axe, each strike powerful enough to shatter the ground beneath them. Zen blocked these attacks with enhanced reflexes; his movements were a seamless blend of martial arts and raw elemental power.

Tapping into his elemental fire, Zen created a barrage of fire bullets, launching them at the summon with insane speed. The air crackled with heat as the fiery projectiles streaked towards their target. However, the summon remained unscathed, its dragon-scale armor impervious to the flames. Undeterred, Zen continued his assault, using his martial arts skills to deliver precise, powerful blows.

The summons's frustration grew as Zen's relentless attacks continued. Each time the summon swung its axe, Zen evaded or blocked the strike, his reflexes being unmatched. He struck the summons repeatedly, each blow landing with force and precision. The summon's annoyance was palpable, its movements becoming more aggressive as it tried to land a hit on him.

The hall echoed with the sounds of their battle: the clash of man vs. the dead, the crackle of elemental energy, and the deep thuds of powerful strikes. Zen's awareness, though hazy, noted every detail of the fight. He moved with a confidence born of instinct, his body acting independently of his conscious mind. The summon's attempts to overpower him were futile.

Zen's fire bullets, despite their speed and intensity, failed to pierce the summon's defenses. The summon's armor, imbued with some ancient enchantment, deflected each fiery projectile. Zen used a combination of punches, kicks, and weapon attacks that kept the summon on the defensive.

The summons's frustration mounted as it struggled to keep up with Zen's relentless assault. Swinging its axe with increasing annoyance, the summon carved deep gouges into the ground. Each missed strike sent tremors through the hall, adding to the chaos of their battle. Zen, however, remained unfazed, his enhanced reflexes allowing him to dodge and block each attack.

Zen's movements were fluid and unerring, driven by a combination of instinct and elemental power. He struck the summons repeatedly, each blow delivered with precision and force. Despite its size and power, the summon found itself on the defensive, unable to overpower Zen.

Zen's movements were fluid and unerring, driven by a combination of instinct and elemental power. He struck the summons repeatedly, each blow delivered with precision and force. The summon attacks became more erratic as they struggled to land a hit on Zen.

As the battle raged on, Zen's determination only grew stronger. He knew that he had to buy time for Yawen and Rui, and he was willing to push himself to the limit to achieve that goal.

The summon raised its left arm, conjuring a crackling black orb that unleashed destructive bolts of black lightning, tearing through walls and shaking the ancient ruins. Zen felt the raw power of the attack.

Zen didn't see anything but felt the intensity and severity of the attack. He thought to himself about such a strong elemental attack. Zen, with an uncoordinated walk like a drunk person, staryed as he approached the summonsman. Zen bent down, used his daggers, blitzed the summon, and went past him. The summon fell to the ground for the first time.

Zen, without wasting any time, quickly launched several big pointy stones and hit the summon in an effort to pin it. The dragon-scale armor of the summon protected it and had no effect. Zen, clearly annoyed, realized that his efforts weren't paying off. The summon immediately gets up and then attacks Zen. Zen always on the running side dodged and blocked it attacks. The summons used elemental arts to attack Zen. Their clash of energy was like a terrifying storm—loud and deadly.

Zen without having infinite essence reserves was tiring out. The summons was restless and attacked every moment it got. Zen, using minimal energy, dodged every attack. The entire hall was reduced to dust and bits. Zen tried to run away from the summon, and the summon came after him. Zen said to himself, If I just run, I'll buy enough time for Yawen and Rui to take down the necromancer. "Let's play a game of hide and seek," he said to himself.

Zen ventured through the ruins, exploring different chambers, until he stumbled upon an armory filled with chains crafted from obsidian fused with intricate sealing arts. These chains were designed to restrain powerful summons and beasts alike. With a quick decision, Zen seized the chains and swiftly employed his wind arts to enhance his speed, anticipating an encounter ahead.

Setting a clever trap, Zen laid one of the chains on the ground, strategizing to trip and immobilize the summon that seemed unperturbed by Zen's attempts to evade it. As the summons closed in, Zen acted swiftly. He grabbed the chain, intending to ensnare the creature by its neck and lead it to a prepared pit. Utilizing clones, Zen coordinated a relentless assault, intending to overwhelm and incapacitate the summon. The summon tripped and fell, and all of Zen's clones ganged up on the summon. Zen dragged the summon to the pit, tied it up there, and filled the pit with mud. The summon was immobilized, and Zen used his earth art to finally close the pit.

Despite his planning, suddenly Zen faced unexpected adversity when the summon with an unexpected surge of power, broke free from its restraints with a devastating explosion. The blast decimated most of Zen's clones, leaving him vulnerable and bewildered by the summon's resilience. The summon raised its right arm, and his battle axe automatically came towards him.

Zen was surprised when Pali created his own weapon, and this summons can call for his weapon at will. What are these people, and how do they become that strong? I wonder how strong the Kasai are that Rui spoke of. Zen, contemplating all of these unconsciously, said to himself, I am still too weak.

Suddenly, the summon unleashed a powerful technique by raising both of its arms, generating an overwhelming force that pinned Zen to the ground with crushing pressure. Helpless against the immense strength bearing down on him, Zen endured excruciating pain as his body strained against the unyielding force. The ground beneath him cracked and gave way, swallowing him into a deep pit created by the summon's devastating attack.

The intense pressure bore down on Zen, crushing his body, fracturing nearly every bone, and tearing his skin. Unconscious, he still screamed in unbearable pain, his body wracked with agony.

As Zen vanished from sight, the summon stood there, its arms resting upon its axe, seemingly waiting for Zen's eventual return.
