Chapter 305 - Wild Accusation

Chapter 305 Wild Accusation

"It's unfortunately all true. Despite Cecelia's enthusiastic retelling, we were planning to ask you to convey a message to Daniel so he can spread the information," Kelly clarified.

Brian nodded, attempting to wrap his head around the situation. "Do you all think we should cancel our plans for today, or should we focus on our last quest? Liam is still in the field and will continue tracking our lead until the end of the day," he informed.

Cecelia answered, "I think we can wait until the end of the day. The receptionist rushed off in a hurry, so they will probably spread this information themselves."

"That's likely," Brian agreed. "Then I guess that makes our choice easy."

Knowing that the receptionist had rushed off, likely to inform the guild master, Kelly replied, "I believe we should continue with our quest, as Cecelia suggested. Especially since news is likely to spread; after all, this isn't exactly a private setting."

With their plans in place, the group focused on the quest ahead. Brian led them along a path that made Aleshia believe they were heading to the beastkin's residence. They were only a few blocks away, but instead of continuing toward their destination, Brian directed them to a nearby landmark that featured a fountain at its center. The fountain was anything but clean; the water was noticeably murky, starkly contrasting with the spotless fountains they had seen in the nobles' quarter. "Liam will notice us in no time, so we'll wait until he reaches us," Brian informed the group. Everyone looked for something to occupy their time and soon found benches to sit on, while others lay in the grass, seemingly unconcerned.

Aleshia began to distract herself by taking in the air and the murky surroundings, which were filled with buildings that looked well-worn and weathered. She did her best to enjoy what seemed like a sad attempt at creating a park. Eventually, Liam arrived, announcing his presence. "Good, you're all here," he said. "I've gathered some incredible information that I believe will shock you regarding our situation."

"Oh? Please, share it with us," Kelly encouraged.

Liam continued, "The cat we are searching for is actually a beastman who hasn't transformed yet. I believe that the beastkin who took them is like a sibling or parent and got separated from them during their travels. When they discovered that the cat was taken captive by a noble, they must have orchestrated a plan to retrieve them, and here we are now trying to get the cat back."

Brian doubted, "Those are certainly some wild accusations. Do you think that is a possibility?"
