Chapter 213: Expedition Tasks
"Yes, sir!"
In response to Gu Xi's order, Fugu quickly took action.
Gu Xi noticed that the various colored flags in the sandbox changed again.
Apart from the flags of the Bone Cutting Camp, some flags were now numbered, from 1 to 9.
Then there were the different colored flags without any markings.
However, Fugu could tell what these flags represented.
While Fugu was re-organizing the troops, Gu Xi approached the sandbox. He noticed three pieces of information above the sandbox: one white and two green.
[Task: Clear the Sewers 1 (White)]
[Enemies: Spectral Rats (Level 0-5) 200, Spectral Rat Doctor (Level 5, Leader)]
[Requirement: 100 undead soldiers, 1 undead leader, 10 units of food]
[Expedition time: 12 hours]
[Success rate: 0%]
[Rewards: Supplies (large amount), Soldier and leader experience (large amount), Treasure chest (possible)]
[Description: This is a cleaning task for the sewers of Aridowei.]
As Gu Xi examined the sandbox, Fugu walked over.
"Sir, do you need to conduct a combat mission?"
"I'll handle it. I've learned this."
Deploying troops for an expedition was something Gu Xi had learned at the Darkbone Academy.
He quickly picked up the flags in the sandbox and placed them into the task in front of him.
As he placed them, Gu Xi muttered to himself.
"Let's put a zombie leader with 50 zombie shield-axes in the sewers. Forget about the others for now, prioritize defense. The sewers are narrow, what did the lesson say again? The best units for small spaces are rat or insect types.
This time we're fighting rats, so deploy 50 swarms of corpse flies. That should be enough combat power. Let's see the success rate, 87%. That's good, deploy!"
With Gu Xi's command, a horn sounded over the barracks.
Then several flags disappeared from Gu Xi's hands, and an image of an expedition force appeared in the sandbox.
Fugu, watching Gu Xi's actions, didn't comment much on his methods.
In Fugu's eyes, while Gu Xi's deployment wasn't optimal, it wouldn't cause any major problems.
As long as it's stable and not risky, Fugu considered it sufficient.
After deploying one force, Gu Xi became interested and quickly arranged the remaining two expedition tasks.
[Task: Mist Shadows (Green)]
[Enemies: Shadow Phantoms (Level 0-5) 200, Phantom Leader (Level 5, Defensive)]
[Deployment: 1 Skeleton Leader (Spearman), 100 Skeleton Spearmen, 20 units of food]
[Expedition time: 24 hours]
[Success rate: 96%]
[Rewards: Supplies (large amount), Soldier and leader experience (large amount), Treasure chest (possible)]
[Description: Regularly clearing enemies around the city is crucial for the city's safety.]
[Task: Border Patrol (Green)]
[Enemies: Twisted Plants (Level 0-5) 200, Twisted Carnivorous Plant (Level 5, Deadly)]
[Deployment: 1 Skeleton Archer Leader, 100 Skeleton Archers, 20 units of food]
[Expedition time: 24 hours]
[Success rate: 88%]
[Rewards: Supplies (large amount), Soldier and leader experience (large amount), Treasure chest (possible)]
[Description: Anomalies have been found in the Magic Plant Area's border, please handle promptly.]
After assigning all tasks, Gu Xi turned to Fugu.
"How often are these tasks?"
"Unless there are special circumstances, there are currently only three tasks. Complete one, and a new one will refresh."
"Next time, if a white task refreshes, you handle it. I'll come over for green tasks."
"Yes, sir!"
Fugu responded decisively.
It's not that Gu Xi didn't value the authority of deploying troops from the barracks, but white tasks were merely practice battles for soldiers.
As long as the leader matches the opponent's leader, the task is basically completed.
Unlike green tasks, which require considering the opponent leader's attributes and choosing counter units to deploy.
For example, if the opponent has a lethal ability, Gu Xi would use a vanguard or ranged troops, not allowing the enemy to get close.
If the opponent has a group attack spell, then sending assassins is the best choice.
These countermeasures were something Gu Xi had to memorize verbatim at the Darkbone Academy.
Now Gu Xi could instinctively choose the corresponding troops, and his choices were quite effective, with success rates never below the 75% alert line.
After organizing the expeditions, Gu Xi took another tour around the barracks.
The barracks was still level 1, with many of its unique functions yet to be activated.
However, the barracks had reserved spaces for these functions.
After a brief tour, Gu Xi was fairly satisfied.
"Fugu, I'm leaving the barracks to you. I don't need to emphasize its importance.
I need you to ensure that as long as you're here, the barracks' stability and troop movements must be top-notch."
"Rest assured, sir, as long as I'm here, there won't be any issues with the barracks or Aridowei's defenses."
"Good!"
Gu Xi patted Fugu's shoulder and turned to leave.
"Sir, where to next?"
Luna floated in front of Gu Xi.
"The priority is the garrison gate, right? Is it completed?"
"It's completed, along with the moat and arrow towers nearing completion. Shall we go see?"
"Let's go take a look, then head to the magic tower."
Gu Xi considered for a moment and made the decision.
After all, the magic tower needed more time, and he planned to build a structure converted from the Bone Lantern near the magic tower, which required some time for proper handling.
If busy, there wouldn't be time to inspect the gate.
So he decided to check the gate first.
Luna had no objections and led the way.
However, as they walked, Gu Xi noticed they seemed to be leaving the oldest district and entering the fragmented land of the Magic Plant Area.
Seeing the twisted giant trees planted along the road, Gu Xi asked.
"Luna, why is the gate built here?"
"Sir, after the last battle here, some fog was broken, and phantoms occasionally enter Aridowei from there. Building the gate, moat, and arrow towers here provides some defense."
