Sentry's eyes flared with righteous fury as he pushed against Adam's locked arms. The very fabric of space around them trembled, unstable from the sheer force of their collision. Golden light erupted between them in waves, neither side budging—until Sentry snarled lowly and surged forward, forcing Adam back through the air like a battering ram. The remnants of jagged stone below were pulverized from the energy backlash.
Adam dug his heels into the air, stopping his slide just short of a crumbling cliff. His feet hovered inches above the surface, held up by his own cosmic mastery, as he raised a hand. "You're wrong," he said sharply. "I don't serve Thanos. I've fought him longer than you've drawn breath."
Sentry hovered in silence. Then, without a word, he rushed.
Like a golden meteor, Sentry broke the sound barrier—twice—within seconds. His punch landed on Adam's forearm just as Warlock raised it to defend, the force rippling through his entire body and shattering a mountainside far behind him. But Sentry wasn't done.
He blinked out of view—teleportation? No—just speed.
Adam turned—and caught a second punch to the ribs.
He gasped as his body folded inward, the hit sending him crashing into a crater wall, collapsing it completely. Debris flew in every direction, but within the dust, Adam's silhouette still floated, coughing—but standing.
"Persistent," he muttered.
Sentry descended slowly this time, arms glowing with contained energy. "The President said you were clever. That your tongue could break nations. That you were more dangerous in words than in war."
Adam spat to the side. "Then she doesn't know me. I don't talk to end wars—I fight them."
"Good," Sentry whispered. "Then fight me."
He launched forward again—but this time with his foot raised. The kick struck Adam dead center and sent him hurtling across the horizon, smashing through two rock spires before being buried under a third.
For a moment, silence.
Then Sentry raised his hand. His entire body glowed like a second sun, and the energy around his palm condensed into a sphere—unstable, violent.
"You're lucky I'm giving you a warrior's death," he said. "Not many of Thanos' ilk get that."
But as he released the attack, Adam emerged.
He caught the blast with both hands. Held it.
The glow illuminated his determined face. "You speak with such certainty," Adam growled, pushing the energy sphere back inch by inch, "but you don't understand what you're dealing with."
The sphere cracked under Adam's grip—then shattered in a golden implosion.
Sentry's eyes widened—but only briefly. He rushed again.
They met in the sky—again—fists colliding like thunderclaps.
Sentry ducked, spun, and elbowed Adam across the face—then followed with a knee to the stomach and a downward hammer blow that cracked open the ground beneath them. Adam skidded away, coughing—but not falling.
"You don't get tired," he muttered.
"No," Sentry said, his voice low and absolute. "I don't."
And then he roared forward again—blows raining down in a blur, lefts and rights and shoulder checks, each one backed by force enough to flatten tanks. Adam blocked what he could, his body glowing brighter with every hit, but his defense faltered.
Sentry caught him by the throat, lifted him, and slammed him through three layers of stone.
"You're just another manipulator," Sentry growled. "Another mask worn by a tyrant. You think because you wear gold and speak like a prophet that I won't rip you apart?"
Adam's body pulsed, absorbing cosmic energy—but Sentry didn't wait. He threw him into the air, flew after him, and spun into a devastating uppercut that sent Warlock crashing into orbit.
Sentry followed.
There, in the silence of low gravity and dead moons, Sentry hovered above him, radiating godlike energy.
"You never stood a chance."
But as he spoke—Adam Warlock floated up slowly, dusted in broken rock, his body bruised but his expression… calm.
"No…" Adam said softly. "You're strong. You're relentless. But…"
His fist clenched, and light surged around it like a supernova.
"I can't keep holding back against you."
Sentry blinked.
And then Adam Warlock moved.
With a single punch, faster than Sentry could register, he struck—clean across the jaw.
Adam Warlock's golden form blazed like a living sun as he crashed into Sentry, his punch folding the man's body into a meteor of momentum. Sentry barely had time to react before another brutal strike landed across his jaw, sending his body spinning backward like a broken comet.
"You're nothing but a weapon!" Adam growled, grabbing Sentry by the cape and slamming his knee into the solar plexus. The blow echoed like thunder. "You think this is righteous?! That you're saving Earth by fighting me?!"
Sentry coughed blood, his vision reeling, but he retaliated with a heat burst from his eyes. It struck Adam in the chest—enough to push him back a few meters, but not enough to halt the onslaught.
"You don't understand!" Sentry gasped as he steadied himself, his body trembling. "If I fail... Thanos wins... I can't—fail—Earth!"
"THANOS?!" Adam's aura exploded outward. His eyes ignited with incandescent fury. "I AM NOT HIS ALLY!"
He tackled Sentry mid-sentence, dragging him through their own clash-created debris. "No one," Adam seethed, "no one wants him DEAD more than I do!"
He smashed his fist across Sentry's face—once, twice, thrice—bones cracked, blood trailed like comets. He didn't stop. He couldn't stop. The betrayal burned deeper than any wound. With every strike, Adam released years of rage, sorrow, and betrayal. "I ALLMOST DIED FIGHTING HIM!" he screamed. "I GAVE EVERYTHING TO KILL HIM!"
Sentry tried to speak, but his mouth only filled with more blood. A final haymaker cracked his skull against an invisible wall of force. His limbs hung limp. His consciousness was slipping.
Adam stopped, breathing heavily, watching the once-mighty figure now barely floating in zero gravity, his face disfigured, golden radiance flickering like a dying star.
"I won't kill you," Adam muttered, voice hoarse. "Even if you're wrong... even if you're a fool. You're still Earth's hero."
He turned his back, guilt mixing with fury. But the silence behind him broke.
A low, guttural hum. Like a void breathing.
He turned.
What he saw wasn't the Sentry.
The golden glow was gone.
What remained was darkness—sick, swallowing, and endless. A black aura like a living scar across reality.
Two empty white eyes glowed from the abyss.
"I am Void," it said.
