Chapter 43 - William has bitten more than he could chew.

Just then, the doorbell rang again. William's heart raced as he cautiously approached the door, peeking through the peephole. To his surprise, it was a familiar face—Mr. Green, a family friend and lawyer.

William quickly let him in. "Mr. Green, thank God you're here. We need help. My father's been arrested, and the factory—"

Mr. Green held up a hand, cutting him off. "William, I've heard the news. The situation is grave, but we need to think clearly. First, we need to get your father a good defense lawyer, someone with a clean reputation."

William nodded, but his thoughts were elsewhere. "Do you think Max is behind this? Could he have the resources to pull this off?"

Mr. Green frowned. "Max Wellington? It seems unlikely, but in this business, you can't rule out anything. However, chasing shadows won't help right now. Focus on clearing your father's name and stabilizing the business."

Mrs. Greg Tyson approached them, her eyes red and puffy. "Mr. Green, how did this happen? We've always been careful."

He sighed. "It looks like someone planted the contaminated products. This isn't just a business rivalry; it's personal. But right now, we need to minimize the damage."

Meanwhile, Sharon was at Darius Group, digging into Max Wellington's background. He met with a few employees, asking subtle questions about Max's connections and recent activities. One employee hesitated before speaking up.

"Max Wellington has been different lately," the employee said, glancing around nervously.  Max Wellington is the CEO of Darius' group. Sharon almost passed out hearing this.

The employee"He's been meeting with some influential people, but I can't say more. He seemed relaxed but determined."

Sharon's eyes narrowed. "Who were these people?" How did Max, the most wanted eligible bachelor, and the heir and CEO of the prominent Darius group turn out to be Julia's husband?

Sharon's feet could barely lift her left the office, her mind racing. If Max was indeed behind the Tysons' downfall, then they were finished, but they needed proof. Without solid evidence, it was just speculation.

Back at the Tyson house, Mr. Green was making calls, setting up meetings with potential lawyers. William sat beside his mother, holding her hand. "Mom, we will get through this," he said, trying to sound reassuring. "We just need to stick together."

Mrs. Tyson nodded, her tears flowing silently. "I know, William. But I'm so scared. What if we lose everything?"

William swallowed hard. "We won't. I promise."

As the day turned into night, the tension in the house was palpable. William paced the living room, waiting for Sharon's call. When the phone finally rang, he grabbed it, barely waiting for the other end to speak.

"It's Sharon," came the voice. "I've got some information, but it's not good. Max might be more involved than we thought. William's hold still, I'm not sure your feet can carry you, if you hear still. Sharon took a deep breath. Then spoke gently. Max Wellington is the renowned and powerful CEO of the Darius group.

What William cut through, no. That's not possible, Sharon, are you sure?

Absolutely, Sharon replied.

Then she continued, you can already tell the rest of the story.

William felt a chill run down his spine. "Do we have proof?"

"Not yet," Sharon replied, "but we're getting close. We need to be careful, William. If Max is behind this, then we're finished."

William clenched his fist. "I'll fight this. No one destroys my family and gets away with it."

Meanwhile, Max and Julia arrived at her new workplace, the Darius group. As Anita entered the building, she felt a mix of excitement and nerves. This job was a fresh start, a chance to build something of her own.

Max kissed her on the cheek. "Good luck, love. I'll see you tonight."

Julia smiled, feeling a warm glow from his support. As she walked into her new office, she couldn't shake off the feeling of tension. But she pushed the thought aside, focusing on the positive changes in her life.

However, back at the Tyson residence, the atmosphere was anything but positive. As the night wore on, the phone rang again. This time, it was one of their creditors. William immediately ended the calls.

He decided to reach out to an old friend, Jessica, who worked as an investigative journalist. Jessica had a knack for digging up the truth and wasn't afraid to take on powerful adversaries.

"William, it's been ages," Jessica greeted him warmly at their meeting spot, a quiet park. Her eyes, however, quickly narrowed with concern as she took in his disheveled appearance. "What's going on?"

William explained somethings, leaving out vital information. He explained from the contaminated products to the mounting accusations and his suspicions about Max. Jessica listened intently, her expression growing grimmer by the minute.

"This is big," she said finally. "If Max is involved in something illegal, and if he's using those connections against your family, it's not just about business anymore. This could be criminal."

William nodded. "That's why I need your help. We need to uncover the truth, but I can't do it alone. The police are suspicious of us; we need to find evidence that clears my father's name and exposes the real culprits."

Jessica agreed to help, promising to look into Max's background and any possible connections to the scandal. She also suggested they keep an eye on any suspicious financial activity, as money often left a trail.

As the days passed, Jessica uncovered a few leads. She found a series of suspicious transactions linked to a shell company that she thought Max could have connections with. It wasn't much, but it was a start. William felt a surge of hope. They were getting closer.

But the situation took a darker turn. One night, William received an anonymous tip-off. The voice on the phone was distorted, but the message was clear: back off, or things would get worse. William's hands shook as he hung up, the threat ringing in his ears.

He called Sharon immediately. "We need to be careful," William warned. "Someone knows we're getting close. This is bigger than we thought."

Sharon agreed, sounding equally concerned. "We'll meet tomorrow, figure out our next move. Just… be safe, William."

The next morning, as William prepared to leave for their meeting, there was a knock on the door. Expecting Randy or Jessica, he opened it without hesitation, only to find two men in suits standing there, their expressions cold and authoritative.

"Mr. William Brooklyn Tyson?" one of them asked

William nodded, his heart sinking. "Yes, that's me."

The man pulled out a badge. "We're from the Securities and Exchange Commission. We have some questions regarding your family's business dealings."

William felt the ground shift beneath him. "This must be a mistake," he stammered. "Our business—"

The second agent interrupted, "We'll need you to come with us to answer some questions."
