"This game sucks!" He slammed his fist at the table hard, causing it to shake and making a cup fall off. He was another young and rich customer who managed to "lose" at the three cups gambling game, losing about 300 coppers in one sitting.
Bumi just smiled professionally like what Guan taught him and waited for the customer to make a decision to either quit or continue. This one seems to have a lot of money still so there's a high chance he will continue. His outburst must be his ego not taking the "loss" too well.
Wait… When did I become smart?
If Bumi were to be asked, he will tell it's because of his brother in not blood but interest, Guan. Being close to him, observing the way he spoke to the customers or how he handled them, he must've picked up a few of those from him just from watching. He might look like he has a screw loose but he's pretty smart and adaptive and talented.
I'm talented in everything, keke!
"One more! Shuffle it again!" The rich guy picked up from his pouch of money while biting his lips.
"Alright!" He happily shuffled it, his hands moving very fast as he moved the cups in an alternating way. By doing this everyday for a week, his hands became used to this and first-time gamblers' eyes wouldn't probably be able to follow it, making his game look authentic, but it's really not. His Earthbending always comes into play here as he uses it on the small rock inside one of the cups.
Does he feel bad? Yes, a little, no, maybe at first but not too much now. Guan would always say, "They're rich people, no need to feel bad that they had to leave a few coppers to the poor," and would get them together to donate some of the money to others. It numbed him to feelings of guilt and remorse. Or maybe he was just as crazy as he looks. Who knows, as long as he can eat well without taking advantage of the dirt poor and gets closer to his goals, taking some money from the rich shouldn't be that bad.
"2 golden coppers on the middle cup!" He slammed two coins on the table, looking confidently at the middle cup.
Bumi grabbed the middle cup and immediately lifted it open. The customer slammed his fist again as Bumi swiftly swiped the two coins from the table.
"You, just wait here for a moment, don't ever fucking leave. I will get my brother here so he can bet as well," He said, gritting his teeth and leaving.
One of Guan's lessons was, if a customer looks like an arrogant noble and he asked you to wait while he brings another person, then it was definitely a trouble. He even muttered some words like typical Xianxia young masters. Bumi doesn't know what that means but it sounds like trouble.
"Alright, I'm out of here," Bumi said as he grabbed the table and cups and began running.
He earned more than enough from that one guy anyways, there's no good reason to continue.
Kekeke! Bumi could understand why that guy was angry, he literally gave him more than enough money in just 4 games that he would normally get in a day of work or about 3 hours.
As soon as he stepped foot on the delivery line, he waited for another cart to appear. Soon enough a stone made cart full of cabbages made its way in front of him at high speed. Bumi quickly jumped into it and rode.
How much did I earn from him?
On top of the cart, he began counting his earnings.
"420 coppers… That's a new record! Keke!"
The highest they got in their best day is over 300 coppers, and that's considering they're two working at it and there's multiple customers betting big, but this day he only got one and he earned enough to put a big weight on their treasures.
I would be angry at myself too!
Laughing, Bumi jumped off the cart as he spotted their new house, sliding on the stone support of the delivery system and then reaching the ground. Life is fun, and it's even more fun when you're carefree.
Bumi hummed as he reached the door of their apartment, or what Guan called, their small and temporary base of operations, where all members of their group lived and talked about business. As of now, it's only two of them living in this place.
Bumi opened the door and his eyes widened when he saw another 3 people inside sitting on the Earthbending-made chairs that are formed in a circular shape. They were two girls with bright white skin a little younger than him and Guan and a guy around their age with a dented nose.
"Come in, brother."
He wasn't the type to shy around new people inside their home, in fact, he was happy since this is obviously the recruits Guan was talking about. Bumi walked inside, taking a seat on the opposite side of Guan, then placing the pouch of coins on the table. The coins hitting one another filled the room for a moment before the bag came loose and countless coppers popped out.
"Amazing…" The one with the ponytail hair muttered with shining eyes.
The serious kid with a broken nose just gulped and the last girl just looked away. Yes, Guan said that he should do it when something like this happens to make the new members see how much they could earn in this group. And now that he did this, it's kinda fun seeing their reactions. Before, he couldn't even imagine holding this much money at all.
"This is how much each member could earn in just a day of working. You'll keep half of your earnings for you to do whatever you want while half will go to the group for our expenses and for the future expansion," Guan explained.
"I-I could do everything with it? You mean everything? Food, clothes and accessories?" The ponytail-haired asked.
Guan simply nodded.
"Yes! My brother will join us!"
"Kay-"
She glared at her brother hard, making him shut his mouth.
"Yes, we will."
