"Maybe it will not be all that bad when you tell them that you are married. I think your mother will be happy even." Shen Mu said.
"Maybe, but then at least the divorce will happen." Cheng Xiao said.
Grandfather Xu had heard enough and motioned to Xu Kai to go back to the house. Together they walked back into the house and again went to the study room.
"See, I told you she was not bad." Xu Kai said.
"Did you really marry her without getting her parents' permission?" Grandfather Xu asked.
"There was no time for that." Xu Kai replied.
"Poor girl, she has been dealing with all these by herself." Grandfather said.
When he heard her reasons, he felt ashamed for jumping to conclusions like that. He had not even given her a chance before asking her how much she wanted like a she was gold digger. He had no idea that she was on date with another man when his own grandson stormed in and dragged her straight to a marriage bureau.
Cheng Xiao was called back inside by a maid. "I have to go now." She said to the two.
"Wish you luck." They wished her luck and hanged the phone up.
Cheng Xiao walked back into the house and followed the maid back to the living room. She saw Xu Kai's parents seated there with Xu Kai also present, his grandfather was not present. Xu Kai called her over to sit next to him, she went and sat next to his mother instead, she also called her over.
Cheng Xiao sat next to Mrs. Xu and Xu Kai's mother grabbed hand for support. Grandfather Xu came down the stairs and saw that everyone was present.
"I have an announcement to make." He said and cleared his throat.
He turned and looked at Cheng Xiao, Cheng Xiao tensed up but she felt a squeeze on her hand and looked at Xu Kai's mother who gave her a comforting smile.
"Cheng Xiao..." This was it, Cheng Xiao said to herself.
"Welcome to the family." Grandfather Xu said.
"What?" Cheng Xiao said in shock and stood up.
"Yes, welcome to the family." Grandfather Xu said.
"No, no you said that we'll get divorce." Cheng Xiao said.
"Yes, I did say that, but I changed my mind." Grandfather Xu said like it was nothing.
"But the money..."Cheng Xiao asked.
"Consider it your wedding gift." Grandfather Xu said.
"I don't want it." Cheng Xiao said.
"I know, it was my fault for judging you without knowing. For that I am sorry." Grandfather Xu apologized.
"Yay, I knew you were destined to be my daughter in law from the first time I met you." Xu Kai's mother said and jumped to hug Cheng Xiao.
