Chapter 8 - Chapter 8 Temples of the Wind

[Amil's POV]

The Abyss Order foes don't waste time with words and start their attack on us.

Lisa, in response, breaks contact with my arm and dishes out a stray bold of lightning, which ends up connecting with the charging assailants in a spread-like fashion, reminiscent of how actual lightning is seen.

The attack, while not particularly deadly, does a good job of forcing the front line of Hilichurls and Mitachurls back and doing good damage as well.

Beats me as to why she didn't just blast them off.

The Abyss Mages in the back line (Pyro, Hydro, and Cryo) all begin to charge their elemental energy and focus on Lisa.

Hmph, how rude to have forgotten about my existence. A mistake which will cost them dearly.

I use my Geo powers to channel energy through my leg and into my foot and then stomp on the ground to cause a minor and short earthquake within the temple. Following that, all the ground units (Hili's and Mita's respectively) flew into the air and off balance, which also resulted in the Abyss Mages getting distracted and fired their attacks too soon. They ended up either missing Lisa completely or hitting their own allies.

"Lisa, why don't we split the enemies: you take the Hili and Mitachurls while I handle the Mages" I spoke to her.

Lisa pondered for a moment before looking back with a concerned look. "Are you sure? Geo doesn't have and elemental reaction with the other ones. It'll be difficult with their force fields in the way" she asked.

I give her a reassuring smile. "Worry not, I can handle it" I say.

She then sighs and nods, preparing to draw the attention of the grounded units who have just recovered from their not so gentle greeting with said ground.

"Yoohoo, over here~" Lisa calls out. All of the enemies look at her and began charging towards her, including the Abyss Mages.

Huh. I expected the Churls to be primitive in mindset, but I didn't expect the Abyss Mages to have that same mindset as well. I guess it doesn't matter in the end, primitive or not, they'll all share the same fate.

With my leg strength alone, I leap up over the Churls and extend my leg upwards into an axe kick on the Pyro Abyss Mage. When my leg landed on the force field, a fissure was made on the outer shell. Although the Mage was wearing a mask, I could somehow feel that it was shocked that what made it's barrier crack was a leg chop instead of an elemental attack.

But that was only the first part of my attack, I had yet to finish. As a result of the speed in which I brought my leg down, the force generated from it was enough to send the Abyss Mage into the ground with a nice crater forming beneath them.

There barriers are quite sturdy. It would be easy to simply just switch to the appropriate element to deal with the force fields. However, explaining that to Lisa wouldn't be ideal. Besides, I wouldn't want to show all of my cards just yet. Especially when I can still use my defensive cubes.

I summon said cubes beneath my feet to keep me afloat. After all, one should not challenge he who has the high ground. The Abyss Mages however, didn't get that message.

The Hydro and Cryo ones unleashed their elemental attacks while I was airborne. In response, I jumped off my cubes and raise my left arm. Then I summoned more cubes to make a Geo spear construct within my hand. I made sure to endow it with a particularly pointy end.

After it was formed, I threw it towards the Hydro Mage. This time instead of the barrier simply cracking, it was shattered completely and progressed unimpeded straight through the Hydro Mage's skull and struck the ground, getting stuck in it.

Afterward, the Hydro Mage vanished into blue particles.

I land back on my cubes and moved over to where the spear was imbedded. I mentally commanded it to return and it did just that, right into my right hand.

The other Mages stood there shocked and frightened, yet I cared not for their fear. Instead, I made the spear a bit more deadly by commanding the bladed part of the spear to continuously rotate while I imbued it with Geo energy. This made the point of the spear look even more lethal. The Mages seemed to take not of that too.

I then began my advance and charged towards the Cryo mage. He tried to counterattack with Cryo energy, but I was a lot faster, so my spear made it past his barrier and through his body like paper. Then he too, dispersed into blue particles.

I pull back and look at the 3rd and final Abyss Mage, terror eminent.

"Wait!" he tried to plea for his life. "Have mercy please!"

Hmm, now where have I seen this image before? Of course I'm referring to the Cicin Mage from the Fatui, but, just like before, I feel nothing to their fear or deaths. I'm also uninterested in what this Abyss Mage has to say in order to survive, we came here for one job and one job only. Any who get in the way of said job must be dealt with accordingly.

I ignore his pleas of survival and ready my attack.

"Please wait! I know you're here for the dragon! I can tell you how to-" I plunged my spear pass his barrier and through his chest before he can finish.

"No need, we'll figure it out ourselves" i said impassively.

I watched as, he too, turned into blue particles and vanished without a trace.
