Chapter 874 - Chapter 874: Extraordinary Physical Damage Resistance

As Carol continued watching the interrogation video, she suddenly witnessed William forcibly expelling the Skrull's soul from its body with a single palm strike.

Her expression became complex—a mix of shock and fear.

Everyone knew about souls, but before seeing them firsthand, most people weren't sure whether to believe in their existence.

Even those who feared them wouldn't take them too seriously.

But now, after seeing William's ability to forcibly separate a soul—and realizing that he had complete control over whether or not it could return to its body—

Carol, who already couldn't defeat him, and had always felt uneasy about his capabilities, now understood just how dangerous William truly was.

Sensing her reaction, William grinned and said,

"If you're curious about what your own soul looks like, I can show you for free—and I promise nothing will go wrong."

"Go to hell."

Carol cursed at him and refocused on the video, while William smirked in satisfaction.

His plan was going smoothly—

First, he had pretended to be weaker to gain Carol's trust.

Then, he had shown her just how outmatched she was, making her realize she couldn't win in a fight.

And now, he was leading her to suspect the Skrulls—which, whether true or not, could turn out to be a real conspiracy.

In the video, the captured Skrull admitted that they had tried to transform into William before.

However, because William was too powerful, any Skrull who mimicked his form would lose the transformation within five seconds due to the sheer energy rejection.

"Crack—"

The sound of a fist clenching tightly echoed through the cockpit.

William didn't even need to look—he already knew that Carol was furious.

Realizing this, William decided that speaking positively about the Skrulls would actually be more effective than openly criticizing them.

"Maybe the Skrulls you're friendly with are only doing this because they've lost their home and have no choice."

As expected, Carol's expression softened, mixed with surprise.

She sighed, "Thanks, but you don't need to comfort me.

If the Skrulls really are up to something, I'll be keeping a close eye on them.

But right now, the universe needs their help to prevent further wars and conflicts.

Besides, with their homeworld destroyed and most of their race wiped out by the Kree, they're nothing more than refugees.

Even if they have plans, they don't have the power to cause real damage.

So at this moment, I'm more interested in knowing—

What exactly did your armor take from me?"

William froze for a moment.

Damn it.

He had hoped to keep the conversation focused on the Skrulls, but Carol had unexpectedly turned the conversation back to him.

"You still don't get it," he muttered.

"It's not just about whether the Skrulls will attack Earth—

It's about the danger of an entire species that can perfectly transform into anyone walking freely among us."

Carol circled William slowly, observing him closely.

"With you here, I doubt the Skrulls will succeed in anything.

After all, if Earth falls into chaos, all that money you've made will turn into nothing but worthless paper and digital numbers.

So honestly? I'm not worried about an invasion.

I'm more curious about what you stole from me."

William's eyes flickered, realizing that Carol wasn't as oblivious as before.

However, she didn't seem as angry, or at least she wasn't convinced that he had deliberately taken her powers.

Feeling smug, William simply shrugged and said,

"Energy absorption, enhanced strength, flight."

BAM!

Carol punched his shoulder, but before her fist could make contact, the Sentinel Armor automatically shifted from black to gold, absorbing the impact effortlessly.

Seeing that William didn't even flinch, Carol scowled.

"Add extraordinary physical damage resistance to that list.

In fact, your armor's defensive capabilities might be even stronger than mine."

As William mentally reviewed the Sentinel Armor's analysis, he realized that Carol's punch had delivered at least five tons of force—

And the armor had neutralized it completely.

Internally, William was ecstatic.

Out of all the abilities he could have acquired, this was the most useful to him.

With the Space Stone, he already had unlimited energy, so energy absorption wasn't necessary.

Flight? Unless it was faster than the speed of light, it wasn't very useful.

Strength enhancement? He rarely fought in close combat anyway.

But damage resistance?

That was game-changing.

With this, he no longer needed to be overly cautious against melee-based superheroes.

As long as he wasn't instantly killed, his healing magic would allow him to teleport away, heal, and return for another round.

Just as he was thinking this, Carol suddenly activated her energy, forming two glowing photon spheres in her hands.

"You don't have this ability, do you?"

"Photon blasts?" William raised an eyebrow.

Lifting his hand, he tried issuing a command for the armor to replicate the attack—but nothing happened.

"That's right," Carol smirked.

Seeing that William's palms remained empty, she burst into laughter.

Amused by his confusion, she explained,

"If you can't generate photon blasts, that means your armor hasn't copied my ability to control electromagnetic and gravitational forces.

Without that, you'll never be able to move at superluminal speeds in space."

Carol, feeling much better, tapped on William's armor and grinned smugly.

"At the end of the day, a machine is just a machine—it'll never truly copy a superhuman's full potential."

William, however, didn't seem bothered.

"Doesn't matter. All I needed was the extraordinary damage resistance."

Grinning, he continued,

"If I want to go somewhere, I'll either teleport or take a spaceship.

Why would I waste time flying there myself?"

Carol rolled her eyes, clearly annoyed by his cocky attitude.

Then, as if suddenly realizing something, she asked,

"What about that blue energy around you? Where did that come from?"

Hearing this, William immediately became cautious.

He knew that Carol gained her powers from being exposed to the Tesseract's energy blast years ago.

It was only natural that she would recognize the Space Stone's power in him.

But William didn't even hesitate—his expression turned to confusion as he casually responded,

"What do you mean? The power of magic obviously comes from training."

Carol narrowed her eyes.

"Don't lie to me. That energy is definitely from the Tesseract.

Now tell me—how did you get it?"

Seeing Carol's serious expression, William knew he couldn't dodge the question anymore.

So, without changing his face, he pulled out a small energy source, about the size of a coffee mug.

"You mean this?"

Carol immediately hesitated, her suspicion wavering.
