Chapter 84 - Chapter 84: Information and Advanced Preparations

I didn't waste any time. In just two months, I relocated all the useless inhabitants of the city to a neighboring town, before transferring everyone I deemed valuable. Since the entire global population has fallen under the control of my Plagas, I am the master of the world—even though I barely use that power.

To ensure food self-sufficiency, I settled 500 farmers and 200 breeders on a 20-square-kilometer agricultural zone—2,000 hectares of fertile land, enriched with organic remains from my former factory and a bio-mechanical irrigation system connected to my mutant plants. Agricultural drones continuously monitored the crops, while genetically modified beasts guaranteed intensive production of meat and milk.

Of course, I also added all the processing professions— butchers, craftsmen, merchants—as well as those managing sewage, electricity, and other utilities, bringing the total to just under 3,000 people.

In parallel, 1,000 logisticians were distributed across the city to manage the flow of goods: food, materials, fuel, equipment, internal circuits. A true human anthill under absolute control, where everything was tracked, calculated, and adjusted as needed.

Anticipating the constraints of future worlds, I brought in over 200 linguists and cryptographers, along with 100 experts in archaeology, mythology, and ancient history. Their mission? To study all known languages—dead, alien, or even fictional. Thanks to them, I established an independent server in the city containing an exhaustive linguistic database, with full syntactic, phonetic, and morphological analysis. It would serve as a foundation for creating instant translators or deciphering any unknown writing.

The technological sector was divided into three main branches: transport, weaponry, and energy—though they sometimes overlapped. Each branch housed around 700 people, with 1,000 additional researchers spread across various laboratories: quantum computing, biotechnology, genetic improvement of plants, adaptation to different ecosystems…

I still kept my private lab, where my personal researchers were gathered: Marcus, Wesker Junior, Mr. and Mrs. Birkin, Alexia Ashford and her unofficial partner Karl Heisenberg, and even Miranda, who had her daughter as promised. Under them were several research teams supervised by Luis Sera and Salvatore Moreau.

The medical sector was no less advanced. A cutting-edge hospital, equipped with cell-repair technologies and neural reactivation systems, had been built in the city center. It housed 100 of the brightest pre-Plagas surgeons and doctors, all biologically enhanced by me. Alongside them worked 300 nurses and medical technicians, all linked through the Plagas neural network, allowing for an instantaneous response in case of emergency.

On another 10-square-kilometer parcel, I had established a massive storage zone, protected by automated defenses:

The first sector: fuel, batteries, technical fluids.

The second: ammunition, weapons, mechanical components.

The third: construction materials, steel, titanium, bio-materials.

And at the very back: tons of gold, diamonds, and rare metals, to serve as exchange currency… in case a future world still relied on such archaic values.

Naturally, I allowed all these people to emigrate with their families. And even though they know I am their master, I am not like Saddler. To them, I am simply an all-powerful employer—with just a bit more control over their lives.

I had also made room for culture and leisure, since Raccoon's library had been rebuilt after demolishing a few housing blocks—now that the city's total population had dropped from 250,000 to just under 50,000.

I hadn't forgotten my former S.T.A.R.S. teammates. After everything they had endured, they deserved more than mere survival. They deserved to be… optimized. And thanks to the data collected from the Duke's body, Karl Heisenberg's abilities, the Megamycete itself, and experiments derived from Miranda's work, I was able to grant them what no human had ever dared to dream of.

Albert WeskerThe captain had made a surprising choice… but one that was devilishly effective. He opted for a tissue and bone graft inspired by Alcina Dimitrescu's genome. The result: his already superhuman body reached a new level of cellular regeneration, combined with extreme muscle density. His skin could withstand minor explosions without even a scratch, and his bones resisted internal pressures exceeding 10 tons."A true masterpiece," he had declared, gazing at his reflection in the mirror as he tested his ability to reform tissues in real time.

Chris RedfieldChris, on the other hand, had let chance decide. He allowed himself to be injected with a modified Cadou without any predetermined orientation, preferring to let "natural symbiosis choose for him." And it had chosen well. His body grew until he stood 2.5 meters tall, his frame putting even some Tyrants to shame. His strength tripled—he could now lift a family car effortlessly—and his skin became comparable to light ballistic armor."You think Sophie will still like you with that giant body?" Kevin teased. The result: an improvised shampoo session, delivered with humor… and pain.

Kevin DooleyKevin, for his part, had inherited a… botanical gift. His Cadou mutation allowed him to drastically accelerate plant growth, a result of merging root-parasite genes with Megamycete enzymes. The problem? My plant-zombies had noticed. Whenever he walked past, their tendrils would twitch with excitement."Please don't throw me at those things! I'm not a walking greenhouse!" he begged, hiding behind Claire, sparking laughter all around… I couldn't help but mutter:"I'd love to see her reaction if she heard you whining like that."At that, poor Kevin turned pale, nervously glancing around as if Alexia herself might crawl out of a ventilation shaft—knowing just how much she would love to study him for his connection to plants.

Claire RedfieldClaire, as steadfast as ever, had refused any enhancement. She wanted to live a quieter life, working with Jill on the internal patrols of Raccoon City. Even if, with the current security level, it was purely symbolic. I respected her choice."I've seen enough mutations for ten lifetimes, Gerald. I just want to fight my own way."I simply nodded. Sometimes, you have to know when to take a step back.

Leon S. KennedyLeon, now in a relationship with Claire, had undergone a mutation that was both strange and fascinating. His Plagas had transformed under the influence of the Cadou, becoming a complex network of several living cores integrated into his body. He now possessed the same internal structure as the Regeneradores—without suffering their negative side effects. His body continuously regenerated tissue, his bones could shift slightly to avoid projectiles, and his nerves adapted to pain to the point of nearly nullifying it."You realize you could blow your leg off and watch it grow back in 15 seconds?" Joseph remarked, impressed.Leon merely shrugged. "It's practical. Especially for dealing with Claire's temper." He then received a smack to the back of the head from the woman he loved—triggering another round of collective laughter.

Ada Wong and Joseph FrostFinally, Ada and Joseph had chosen Karl's unique ability: metal manipulation. But their compatibility turned out to be vastly different.Ada, elegant and precise, could handle small amounts of metal with extreme grace, almost as if it were an extension of her own fingers. She could levitate daggers, wires, or even pick a lock from a distance.Joseph, on the other hand, was brutally efficient but terribly limited. He could lift a 300-kilo steel beam, but only one object at a time. The way he crushed reinforcement bars with his bare hands betrayed a glaring lack of finesse."You really are clumsy," Wesker commented with a smirk, while Joseph glanced at Ada with envy, since her specialty happened to be knives. Ada noticed and gave him a teasing wink.

As I calmly headed toward my business offices—set up on the upper floor of Raccoon's former city hall, now converted into an administrative command center—I stumbled upon a scene that literally left me speechless. There, on the flower-lined path leading up to the building, Ethan Winters and Miranda, arm in arm… were pushing a double stroller carrying Rosemarie and Eva, the two babies babbling innocently side by side.

They were laughing together. Truly laughing.Miranda wore a light summer dress, her loose hair flowing freely, her gaze shining with a tenderness I had never seen in her before. Ethan, meanwhile, seemed relaxed for the first time since… probably Mia's death. They had even attached personalized rattles to the stroller's handles. One read "Papa Ethan," the other "Mama Mira."

I frowned, rubbing my eyes."…They're a couple now?" I muttered, more to myself than to anyone else.

I let the strangeness of the situation pass—for in this world, nothing truly surprised me anymore—and continued toward my office, escorted by one of my personal guards.

Once there, I joined Alfred and Delphine, my two main administrators. Seated around a long polished wooden table, several jurists and economic advisors were scribbling on notepads, while digital tablets projected half-translated documents in ancient languages.

"We've begun structuring a legal framework adaptable to extra-world realities," Delphine explained, handing me a stack of contracts. "Each world will have different structures: some with no notion of private property, others with feudal, imperial, or corporate systems. We needed something adaptive. If it comes down to strength, though, that part we'll leave to you," she added with a smile.

"Good. And the firms?" I asked, settling into my chair.Alfred, ever meticulous, tapped a folder bearing his name. "We've recruited an intercontinental firm specialized in commercial law, treaty negotiation, and the creation of multi-recognized legal entities. They're accompanied by a cohort of interns we're training in our protocols. With access to your server and the work of your scholars, we'll be able to adapt to languages quickly if needed."

On the first day of the fifth month, the System provided me with more information:

You have 1 hour before the transfer. Important note: a converter will be added to the city's perimeter. It will serve to convert resources from other worlds (humans, monsters, animals, metals, and more) in order to create one of the creatures you have the model for. You cannot add materials from this world to recreate your army.

All non-unique creatures you have created will now disappear, except for Plagas within a human host. The creatures you have retained are:

All humans of Raccoon City

All livestock of Raccoon City

Zeus, Neptune, Leo, Naya, and Hermes for the animal creatures

The triplets Jordan and Steve, due to their ties with the Dimitrescu daughters and Rebecca Chambers

Tintin, due to his relationship with Alcina Dimitrescu.

The transitional world will not be accessible to you directly, so you may select 20 creatures to accompany 5 humans of your choice into the other world.

Those five humans will be able to transfer to you any creatures or resources they acquire—whether by purchase, theft, or conquest. You will also be able to provide them with items and other creatures that you recreate.

"Damn, good thing they got together, I would've missed them," I muttered, thinking about the triplets who brightened my days. "So, 20 creatures in another world… can you at least tell me which world, so I can make my choice?"

(Author's note: Alright, last chance—The Hobbit or The Lord of the Rings. I dropped Shadow of Mordor after re-checking a Let's Play, since aside from Talion and Celebrimbor there aren't really any resources in Mordor besides hordes of creatures and orcs. For now, The Hobbit seems to be the chosen setting, but you still have a chance to sway the decision before next week.)
