Lady Su saw that the Crown Prince wasn't speaking, so she also remained silent.
She sat there reading a book. It was a collection of Song Lyrics, specifically meant for the ladies and maidens in the back garden.
Some of the less elegant pieces had been removed, leaving only those that praised mountains and rivers, and the like.
Lady Su read slowly, and Hongxin paid no mind.
Time swiftly passed by.
When Hongxin finished his tasks, Lady Su quickly stood up: "Shall I prepare for the Crown Prince's washing up?"
Hongxin responded with an "Hmm," and as he left, he glanced at the book she was reading.
After washing his hands and changing into more comfortable clothes, Hongxin, as usual, called for a midnight snack.
At this point, he asked Lady Su, "What were you reading?"
"In response to the Crown Prince, it was a book of Song Lyrics. I know too few characters. Even when I recognize the characters, I don't understand the meaning of many of them," Lady Su hurriedly explained.
