Chapter 13 - Haunted spot visit part 1

"I tell you narcissistic people like that should be locked up in am asylum. They are parasites, worse than any viruses." Exclaimed Akihito-kun.

"I agree but maybe we should all just be single, Mikhail's acting was perfect. The poems Anya wrote about what he did and how he hurt her is literally insane. I think men are trash and many women are snakes. I hate society as a whole." Said Emrald.

"Hey now, you won't tell me you're rejecting me again are you? I swear to God, I am not like that, I can't bare to see you hurt." Said Hyungwon.

"Suddenly I can't believe a word you say anymore. Look if you cheat on me, I'm turning you into an eunuch right there and then, live the rest of your life with erectile dysfunction." Said Emrald.

"Emrald, that's such a sweet idea! I should learn from you. Never show any mercy to men who lie, cheat and manipulate and fake their entire personality at the beginning, wasting a girl's time." Said Kotoko

"Women became a little dangerous" gulped Akihito-kun.

"Well I am bored again today, hey why don't we go amd visit a haunted spot?" Suggested Akihito-kun.

Kotoko and Emrald jumped at the idea and were already looking into the most haunted spots in Tokyo.

"Ugh, these fools, are you out of your minds? Why do we need to visit a haunted spot? We aren't Youtubers like 'Clipstore' or anything. Haven't we had enough Horrors this week?" Said Hyungwon while being irritated at the idea.

Akihito-kun suddenly put his hand over Hyungwon's shoulders and whispered in his ear " we can get more points with our girls this way. This can take their minds off the tragedy that just happened. Kotoko has been lowkey avoiding me too just like Emrald has been avoiding you. Last night I woke up to go use the restroom and I found a glimpse of light in their room, I peeked in and boy oh boy, they were watching horror and gory stuff. I heard girls are into these things although I don't know why and they were hugging each other tightly. So imagine we visited a haunted spot, they got all scared and cling onto us, that's getting some points, no?" Suddenly both boys started giggling in the corner of the living room.

"What are you two muttering about? We decided to visit the famous chonei 58 Western style abandoned mansion!" Said both girls with glimmer in their eyes. Tje boys freaked out and asked them if they were serious as this mansion was notorious for being the most haunted spot in all of the east of Japan. It jas many stories and rumours as well.

Chonei 58 a beautiful western style gigantic mansion built by the end of Keio era in 1867 by an English Missionary soldier who settled with Japan with his wife and Children. It was originally built as a vaccational home for their family however they had extended their stay as his wife and children fell in love with the Japanese culture and heritage. Years later when more houses were built in the area, the neighbours reported something strange from the mansion. Apparently hearing beatings and crying at exactly three a.m. Somehow the young girls from the neighborhood started disappearing one by one. Then one day it was discovered that the old soldier was kidnapping them, assaulting them over and over as the poor girl's remains were found in a dungeon in the mansion with organs missing. It was reported that the soldier also beat up these young girls with the help of his wife whole assaulting them. The police were able to find out due to their daughters telling on them and the eldest who was about to be assaulted by her own father, ended up killing him in self defense. They were taken in for questioning and the remains were buried. They were selling organs on the black market but the laws of that era failed to convict them or give a proper punishment. They were soon released and the soldier committed suicide while their daughters ran away. The old lady stayed there for a long time until she completely vanished when she was ninety one years of age. Old and frail, always in a wheelchair, just spirited away, vanishing without leaving any trace.

Countless urban explorers who went to visit the haunted spot all came out terrified all mumbling the same thing "They will kill us, they will eat us alive, chomp chomp chomp, we will become food." The neighbours who still lived there reported hearing a woman weeping and heavy chains being dragged and claws scratching at exactly three in the morning. It was so consistent (at least ghosts and jins are more consistent than human men *laughs*) that the neighbours had to move away.

The four teenagers arrived at the site at Midnight. They had told Mes Kaizen that they were going to the summer festival being held at the Asakusa shrine, which they did for a while before heading to the haunted spot after 11:30. Chonei 58 was afterall in Asakusa, close to the shrine. The gate opened with a slow steady creak that felt creepy. The neighbouring houses were all abandoned, it was an abandoned neighborhood in Asakusa prefecture, Tokyo.

Quietly the went in the yard then tried to open the huhe wooden front door that was now rotting rapidly. It wasn't locked and as soon as they stepped in, something felt off.

The air inside was heavy and dense. It was summer but in that building it was incredibly cold, as if it was minus three degrees. They stepped forward, flashlight in their hands and walked around in the huge hall. It looked like it was a banquet hall. As soon as they reached the middle of the hall, the front wooden door suddenly slammed itself shut on its own. "We should just go back, something is not right about this place." Said Hyungwon. "Oh you scaredy cat, let's explore more, maybe we can find something interesting, I especially want to see all the floors." Said Kotoko all enthusiastically.

They checked out and searched every room in the ground floor one by one, old antique decorations that would tempt anyone to touch them or even steal them and sell. "Do not touch anything, you think we are grave robbers or something?" Said Akihito-kun.

"Aww too bad, I kind of want to go on an adventure, visiting ancient tombs and uncovering treasures and secrets. I love archeology and you know that Aki-kun." Said Kotoko. "Hush, why trying to uncover the past, the present and future is whatattera most." Said Akihito-kun. "Haha that's a point but I am interested in those things too, however I am much more interested in death. I'd like to die." Said Emrald with a straight face. "Oi oi oi, Emrald, don't you dare speak this way. Even if it's just a trending joke or something, it's not funny, Especially not here in this place, huh did you guys hear that. Hush, it's coming from the second floor?" Said Hyungwon.

The four little curious detectives fell silent to listen and suddenly they heard a faint sound of something being dragged from directly above them. They slowly and carefully climbed up the stairs to the second floor and searched each room except the one in the far end of the corridor. The door was locked and faint scratching sounds could be heard from within. "Guys! Come and look at this. I found something interesting."called out Kotoko in a whispered tone. In one of the rooms on the second floor, a diary was found, it belonged to a girl named Winter Bloomsbury; the eldest daughter of the soldier. Here are some entries that the curious explorers read:

July 5th 1867

I know we came to like it here and settled and gained a few neighbours recently but holy moly, my father is insane. Outside home, everyone thinks he's a very charming man, very kind, helpful and polite, at home, he's a psychopath, I swear to God. He brings in girls to rape and kill amd sell their organs. And my sister has been acting weird, she's been talking to some unknown entity, saying she can see him. My mother had no choice but to help my father of she wanted to avoid his ruthless beatings. She's done nothing wrong, just a victim of my narcissistic father. Am I the only normal one here or what?

November 7th 1867

Holy... Dear Lord Almighty, please protect my mother, my sister and I. So this mansion was built upon a graveyard for young girls who were brutally murdered. Somehow this place is infested with dark energy, I can't tell exactly what but my father, before coming to live here was not like this. It's as of he's been possessed by something demonic. I don't recognise him anymore. Oh no he's talking to the wall in the corridor in a language that's neither Japanese nor English. It sounds eerie, like it's not a human language.

December 7th 1868

It's been a while since I wrote in here... So mich happened, a lot of it are in the news. I decided to run away with my sister. My mother insisted she had to stay here, she kept repeating that she was bound to this place and couldn't leave and asked us to and live our lives. We decided to go to China, live in a quiet village there while studying the ways of martial artists and traditional medicine. Finally will the curse leave us if we go so far away? I hope the curse doesn't kidnap anyone else or bind anyone else to this wretched place.

"Wow. So this place was haunted before they lived here?" Said Akihito-kun. "Come on, let's see the dungeon." Said Emrald.

The dungeon was not what they had expected. The air wasn't as cold or heavy. It seemed like there was a door that lead directly there from the outside and somehow what they found there was far more unsettling. There were prison cells and old and rusted torture equipments. Then there was what seemed to be a research lab that seemed like it was in use. They looked at the research papers scattered everywhere and it seemed a research about lead and copper poisoning and it's antidote from olf folklore documents to newer research. Suddenly they heard a loud noise of chains dragging and banging against walls upstairs and went back up to check. And there the atmosphere suddenly shifted. It was no longer the same place they had been before. There were rumours of workers who came to renovate the place whi suddenly banished in thin air, leaving no trace, as if being spirited away but they did not really believe it. But this, this mansion's insides suddenly changed into a vast dark field, fog everywhere, and grass under their feet. It wasn't like the yard either, it was far bigger amd it stretched and stretched as if there was no ending to it. They walked for what felt like hours. Suddenly their flashlights glitching and their phones had bo signal. Were they still in the same place or did they accidentally enter a world that wasn't theirs?
