He tried to intervene but I stopped him from speaking when I told him. He thought I was joking with him but then he looked at the boys who had a serious look on their faces. "You have powers? How come I haven't seen them before?", he asked his voice in a tone of disbelief. "Her powers were ceased after her mother-" Silas clears his throat. "After the fire magic completely disappeared after the incident.", he says trying not to offend me. "And Ethan, I can't stay here anymore. The academy where I am going to live....", I show him the crest on my tunic. "They will teach me how to get stronger.", I say. "But lay- Kaya they are trying to make you strong so that you can destroy that enemy again! I won't let you be their scape goat.", he says gritting his teeth at them.
"She will not be alone. We all will be with her. Kaya was a part of our world not yours, her fate is written there even if the enemy escapes or not.", Abex says and Ethan looked like he wanted to argue but no words formed in his head. I place my hand over his and felt Silas's gaze on them. "Ethan, you have to let me go. My fate is written there. It was meant to be.", I say and he sighs after looking into my eyes for any signs for unsurely. "Ok fine, you can go. Your father had told me something when we had shifted them to the hospital. He said that when you grow up, I let you do whatever your heart desires even if its the most unexpected decision.", he says and I still. "Looks like he kind of knew this would happen. You have a free will kaya. You can choose for yourself you are 20.", he says.
"We don't have that much time we have to go back.", Abex reminds us. I gasp for a bit and hug him tightly. "I will miss you Ethan..", I say tears forming into my eyes. "I will miss you to k.", he says rubbing my back and then leaves me. "Come we have to clear the memories incase the enemy appears infront of you. And you'll have to clear all the memories kaya has in your house. Pictures, letters whatever.", Abex says. Ethan sighs and nods. "But first...", he stops and then moves to where Silas was taking off the knife from the wall untangling himself. He stopped short and looked at him with uncertainty. "Take care of her boy. Even if I hate to tell you this, I have a feeling you wont let anything happen to her.", he says and red creeps up on my cheeks and Silas looked flustered because he just gave him a slow nod.
"Lets do it.", he says and Abex gestures into his room. "You need to lay down for me to do it.", he says and Ethan nods. As I watch the two men heading inside Ethan's room, Silas turned to me. "You should take whatever you need which makes you feel of home.", he says and I avoid his eyes which looked at me with a heavy gaze. I nod going to my room and I open it to see all my things were there except for the fact that the police had done a thorough checking. I enter and look around to see Silas leaning against the door frame looking at my room. "Aren't you such a pervert? Looking around in a girl's room.", I say narrowing my eyes at him. "I would have shown you what I would do to be called a pervert, but I don't want to piss you off.", he says burning his gaze on me when I break the eye contact first going for the closet to see if I needed my clothes. Nope. But then my eyes go over to the frame settled on the top of my bookshelf. My family picture with me, mom and dad.
I only wanted to take that from here. The rest I'll leave here. I go over towards the bookcase with Silas eyes following everywhere I go. I lift myself a bit to reach for the frame half annoyed at how Silas was smirking at my small height. Oh I'll show you. I jumped grabbing the frame successfully but not careful enough that the trophies on the top shelf were about to fall on my head but then out of nowhere Silas came over me as he grabs them in one move. My face copied the panic on his, my breathing turned heavy because he was standing too close. "Guys where are you?", Abex called out from the living room and we quickly tore apart at his voice.
"Try not to get hurt everywhere you go. I cant save you all the time.", he says as he keeps the trophies where they were originally while I was looking at my frame. "Is this all?", he asks and I nod. "Lets go then.", he says walks out first with me following him. Abex sees us with a face that I couldn't decipher. "Where's Ethan?", I ask and he points to his room. "He's asleep. I removed his memory of our interaction and blurred your faces in all of his and yours. And showed him that yesterday you had left from the country wanting to continue your studies there.", he said.
"Let's go, I'll contact Orion to let him know we are coming back.", Silas says and we stand away as a wind blows and the black portal reappears. This time Abex goes first, then I close my eyes again followed by a chuckle from Silas behind me. As I was about to take my fifth step, two hands stopped me by my shoulders. I open my eyes and meet Abex back. I was about to bump into him. "He gets pissed when someone bumps into him.", Silas whispered against my ear making me shudder at his voice. I glare at him while he just grins at me before I walk away from him. "You guys are back thankfully just in time to tell you that the assembly is about to start. So kaya I'll let you go to your room first.", Orion says and I nod leaving the room and heading straight for my building.
I keep the picture frame at the study desk before joining youna and Selene into the seating area which was filled with other students as well. "Why didn't you guys tell me that there were ordinaries here as well?", I ask in a low voice as other students passed by us. "Well we are usually ordered to pretend they don't exists and just not like talk to them or pay attention.", youna says. "Every year there is a test conducted for those who want to avail the opportunity to study here at Topeza. But only top 10 students are selected who pass the test.", Selene explains as we reach the assembly grounds. Just first year had only arrived so everyone was just talking. "Look over there!", youna says nodding over to a girl with black hair.
"She's an ordinary.", youna says. The girl finds us noticing her so she stares at us before looking away and rolling her eyes in the process making Selene let out a small gasp. How rude.. "You see that is why we don't approach them.", youna says clearly annoyed that a ordinary disrespected a royal. "Well how do you know she's an ordinary?", Selene asks. "There is one thing you don't know about me and that is I know every single gossip that goes around the college.", youna winks at us before a loud voice clears his throat and we look over at the threshold to see a senior glaring at all of the first years for being too disrespectful. "Everyone form straight lines and maintain the discipline over here.", he says and we go towards one of the line which was of our building. The students in other lines around us looked at us. "Why is everyone staring?", I whisper to them.
"I don't know?", youna says with unsureness in her voice. "You call yourself the gossip queen and don't know they are probably looking because of the fight that had happened with Jason?", Selene said and youna made an 'o' with her mouth. "Who knows they couldn't dare to share the gossip which included me.", youna said and shaking my head I went to stand behind youna who was supposedly the last person in the line. "Kaya come stand between us. They will try to approach you.", youna said. "They will grow more suspicious if you guys put me in between that you are trying to protect me or something.", I say. "Then come infront of me. Someone can approach you from behind. Apparently the 2nd or 3rd years who knows Jason and his looney gang appears behind you?", Selene says and I suddenly freeze when I thought of that. I quickly rush infront of her. Soon the seniors were coming from behind and I didn't even bothered looking because if Jason was like that I can only shudder at the thought how others might be.
We wait as the professors get on top one by one. Where are- "What are you guys doing over here?", I hear Youna's whisper and turn around to find Abex and Lucien standing in the line behind ours. "We still are the fourth years aren't we?", Abex smirked at youna who had her eyes narrowed at him apparently.
"I have heard they are ace of their years like Silas.", Selene said and I look but don't see Silas anywhere. He wasn't with the professors, where was he? "You heard correctly.", Abex sends a mocking smirk to youna after he is done with singing his praises. The crowd stops talking after Orion taps on the mic to silence them and begins to speak. "Dear all, I proudly welcome the students of this year's session at Topeza Academy. At Topeza, you will be expected to achieve the best and become the excel students that the whole realm expects to see. So you should prepare yourself for the challenges you will get from tomorrow onwards and I only expect the best results from you all. Now let me introduce you to your professors who will be on this year with you.", he said pointing towards the teachers at whom they all clap for when suddenly there is a small chaos beside me and I look besides me to find timarthus crouched on the ground begging the student who was standing besides me to change places with him. The student quickly nods and goes to the front of the line and he stands beside me, grinning at me and waves his hand lightly. Selene asks me about him with her eyes but I just give her a shrug. Gladly the headmaster didn't catch him disturbing his speech as he moved on and told us that the professors are gone on the expedition and the duo will come over their place explained and afterwards he announced Lucien and Abex's names as the professors who will be teaching this year. The students erupt in a crowd hearing their names. Oh god they are too famous. "Now last but not the least let's call out the ancestral elementalists whose forefathers had built the construction of our very own Topeza academy! The first crowned royal-", There is suddenly a huge patch of darkness which covered the part of sky over us and even cuts the principal's speech in the middle. It looked like a cloud with shimmer on its side, except it wasn't a cloud. It was a dragon and to be specific it was Eclipsis with Silas sitting over him. "Does he have to make such a big entrance?", I ask hearing a chuckle behind me.
"Well he is the crown prince of the waterkingdom and the soon to be king, he is expected to make such dramatic entrances.", Selene suddenly said making me still at my place. And that is when I noticed that the shimmering wasn't from the sun, it was another dragon which was made of water. I think I am going to faint. I was so out of mind when Orion's voice came through the speaker indicating that he is also going to be teaching us this year making the students go ballistic and loud sounds of students gossiping occurring in the crowd. "Don't tell me you didnt know he was the prince of water kingdom when your security is handed over to him.", she whispers the last sentence from not letting anyone hear. "I only saw his shadows and not once he used his other powers. Doesn't he likes them or something?", I ask because I had seen movies in which princes didn't wanted to be a king. "You can say that he uses them only when he is in the royal council to show he is adhered to his duties and kingdom but he has earned the shadow powers himself which makes him proud of it and shows them around. He was forced to complete his fourth year in private before his classmates and after acing his challenges and winning the elite badge, he was quickly put into the general position after his father himself is the chief of the army.", Selene explained and I overheard some girls whispering that he is 25 years old. He is that young? In our world, generals are made because of their experience. But here it looks like Silas actually was more experienced than anyone else above his age.
I look at Silas but he doesn't look at me as he takes his place, he just looks in front with his dragons standing at the building's roof. "What a show off.", I hear someone say and look to the side to find timarthus looking at Silas then turning his face to me. "Hi I am timarthus you can call me Tim, its nice to meet you. I know our earlier meeting wasn't as good as expected but I can assure you I am a good man.", he says as he grins and winks at me. "Its fine..", I say cutting myself short as Orion calls the next royal on the stage and I meet Silas's eyes to see he was staring right at me with such a glare that would burry me deep in the ground. "Next, I would like to call the queen of earth kingdom....", Orion announces and there is a light circle forming besides him which was light green in color with flowers. A woman older than him appeared wearing the crown which looked too heavy even from here and had jewels carved into flowers attached to it. She had also wore a purple gown which had to many layers over it with all sorts of beads and laces. She definitely was Youna's mother. Their faces resembled with each other and Youna's fashion sense was also amazing judging by the matching bracelets she has on with her tunics and pants. "She is my aunt. I am Youna's distant cousin.", Tim says grinning again at me. The fact their eyes matched with each other doesn't mean I don't want to punch the man.
"I can kill him if you want." Someone said at the back of my head making me chuckle. "You can't kill him Selene. I dont want you to be charged with murder of a royal.", I whisper at her but she doesn't reply. As the headmaster announces the king of Air kingdom, Lucien's father. I could feel someone glaring daggers at my back. I turn my face to look for the person and my face turns to a scowl as I see Jason looking at me with a sly grin as if he is trying to tell me he isn't done with me. I ignore him and look at Lucien's father. He looks so much like him as in literal meaning and the intimidating aura around his father like Lucien has. The crowd welcomes him and for a second I see a grim look on the Orion's face before he recomposes himself and starts telling us about the rules and regulations all the students have to follow or else they will be punished.
I look at the empty spot besides king aerial and the thought of my own mother standing at the place appeared in my mind but I quickly shoved it down. I thought about how the spot was now my place to stand at and how would I look as the Queen of the Fire Kingdom but the idea itself made me shiver that I am too young to be handling the responsibilities of a queen. Even if I do become queen who will I rule over if there is no one left of my kingdom? And if they found out who I was they will kill me, knowing how dangerous I was to putting an end to the plan they were making to free ziykael the man who destroyed a whole kingdom.
"No they won't.", another voice behind my head but it was too much faded. I turned around to meet Selene's dumbfounded eyes. "Did you say something?", I ask but she looks at me with suspicion.
"No?"
I freeze. Who was it that spoke to me?
