Alex sat in the backseat of the car while Emma stayed behind to talk to Julian. Taking her son away from him felt like a wrong thing to do. Alex was also sad that he was leaving.
" I guess there's no need for me to stay in Manhattan huh."
" Of course there's a need, Alex still wants you around."
" And you? I mean... you two won't be here anymore so it feels kinda pointless."
" Julian. I really appreciate everything you've done for me and Alex, you're practically his Dad. Please don't abandon him, I know I'm asking too much but- "
" Hey... if you don't want me to leave then I won't, for Alex's sake... he's my boy and I won't abandon him."
He tells her. Emma smiled feeling assured and glad she'll see him around.
" Thank you." She hugs him and he returns it. " See you around." He waves as she gets into the car driving off.
" Alone once again huh?." He stood looking at the sky with a faint smile.
Alec was pacing back and forth in the front door hall way. Checking his watch with every minute that passed by. His secretary has been buzzing his phone non stop over the meeting he has with the board of directors, which he was supposed to be there 3 hours ago. Once again his phone rang like crazy and this time he picked it up.
" What?." His cold yet calm voice went through the other end.
" Mr Qinn, the board isn't looking too much happy."
" And?." Alec raised a non bothered brow.
" I-i wanted to find out what time you'll be here, so I can make up an excuse Sir."
Alec sighs pinching his temples. " It's my company, I will get there at my own time. If they can't wait they can leave."
" But Sir -"
" My son will be here any minute from now, they wait or they leave... It's their choice."
He hang up sinking in a sharp breath. A few minutes went by when a black Tesla pulled up in the driveway. Emma took Alex's little hand as they made their way into the house.
Alec crunched on one knee in front of Alex with a smile.
" Hey buddy, nice seeing you again. Can I get a hug?."
Alex looks up at his mother as though seeking for some kind of permission or approval.
" He's your Dad sweetie, go on."
With his tiny hands he wrapped them around his neck which the little one pulled back in seconds.
" Your big sister will be so happy to see you, she's beautiful like mommy. For now go with Claudia and she'll show you your new room."
Claudia walked up to them taking him along with her. Alec stood upright facing Emma.
" He's quiet, and seem like a good kid."
" He's trying to adjust in a new surrounding, it must be weird for him not having Julian around."
" The Doctor, right." Alec crossed his chest with his arms.
" I thought you'd be gone to the office already?."
" I'm about to, wanted to see my son before leaving. I will see you later."
He squeezes her right arms gently with a kiss on the forehead heading out. Emma makes her way upstairs to relax a bit.
Just as she was about to get cozy in bed a servant knocked on her door.
" Mrs Qinn, you have a guest."
A guest?" Emma looked baffled. " Who is it?." She asked still in a sitting position on her bed.
" Mr Nick Qinn."
Nick Qinn? Alec's Cousin...why does he want to see me?." She thought to herself.
" Should I ask him to leave Mrs Qinn?." She finally asked after a long silence from the inside.
" No, I will be right there."
She stood approaching the mirror. Emma knew Nick and Laura had some kind of relationship, and that he and Alec aren't in good terms with one another. Well back then they weren't, she doesn't know about now. Whatever it is she wasn't going to present herself weak or unsure in front of him, those days are long gone were she had to depend on someone else... specifically Alec.
Once collecting herself and boosting her confidence, she walked out of the room with her head held up high. Nick sat on the couch in the living room waiting, he's been waiting for quite some time now. Has she refused to see him? If so then that's not good for him.
" Nick? You're the least person I thought I'd get a visit from, or ever in fact." Emma gave a slight smile walking over to the empty single sofa.
" We're still family, sister in-law... Glad to see you're doing well."
" Well I was shot in cold blood by that crazy woman. But I wasn't going to fall down that easily... She just made me miss half of my good years to get to watch my daughter grow and husband happy."
" I'm so sorry about what you went through, truly."
Emma tilted her head resting her face on her knuckles, her gaze fixed on Nick while he fixed his on hers. Silence reigned for what seem a while, no words were exchanged for approximately 5 minutes. With a fat grin plastered on her face she finally let out some words.
" Why are you truly here, Nick? Clearly you didn't come all this way to apologize. So tell me, what is it you want from me?."
Nick smirked impressed and amused, she sees right through him and he can feel her gaze piercing through his soul... it's impossible to lie or hide anything from her without her seeing right through.
" Getting right into business I see. I guess you could say I need a favor from you."
" A favor huh? Interesting."
" I want Laura to be transferred to a correctional prison."
Emma blinked a few times before bursting into a loud laughter that made Nick question her sanity for a sec. He felt like he was in another person's presence and not the girl he knew back then. did she hit her head so hard that she became a different person?" He thought still puzzled.
" Oh god sorry, it was quite an amusing joke I couldn't help it." Her face turned more serious and jokes set aside. " Tell me why would I allow that?."
" Because she's not well in the head, she needs help and a correctional prison is better. She can get help while serving time, partake in programs that helps in mental health and other things."
" She's a murderer, she deserves to be in a maximum prison, not a correctional."
" Emma please, I'm trying to help her become a better person. I can't watch her die in prison."
" Why not?."
" Because I love her, I want to help her change for the better."
Emma stood holding her posture. " We're done here, you'll be shown the way out."
She walked away. Nick licks his lower lip with a dry chuckle. guess it won't be easy as I thought."
He takes his leave respectively as he came in. Just as he was walking out he bumped into Winter who was closing the front door behind her. He gave a slight nod bypassing her. Winter turned to look at the man who just left, she's never seen him before... Who did he come to see?
" Welcome back Ms Bloom."
" Thank you... Uhm, who was that just now?."
" Ah, that's Mr Nicholas Qinn. Sir Alec's elder Cousin."
" I see, he came to see Alec then."
" He came here to see Mrs Qinn."
" Emma? What for?."
" That I do not know.... Excuse me."
She excused herself. Winter stood there for quite some time before going to her room, she wasn't going to think much of it. He might have probably come to wish her safety back home.
