Chapter 11: Nature
Sitting alone in his room, legs crossed in the butterfly position — the famous meditation pose of cultivators — was a young man with long brown hair and eyes black as pitch. He stared fixedly at a thin piece of paper in his hands.
'Finally I'll be able to test my chakra nature. I had to cry quite a bit to get Tsume to get me one of these sensing papers…'
He turned the paper between his fingers, observing its delicate texture.
'I don't remember what Kiba's original affinities were. I only remember he used the Yang style.'
In the Naruto universe, chakra was the vital energy of all things, formed by combining physical energy (body) with spiritual energy (mind). This energy manifested in different forms. The five basic nature elements — Fire, Wind, Lightning, Earth, and Water — were the most common forms chakra took. Yin (spiritual energy) governed imagination and creation, while Yang (physical energy) governed the body's vitality and strength.
'The original Kiba performed Yang Release, but I don't remember him using any of the five basic elemental jutsu.'
Kiba closed his eyes for a moment, concentrating.
'Right now I have a chakra reserve equal to two genin. Maybe it's because of the reincarnation… or because I've been stimulating my chakra since I was very young. I have no definite answers.'
He opened his eyes again and looked at his hands.
'I've trained my motor coordination every night since the day I was born. I'm proud to say I can barely even see myself forming hand seals. Maybe in two or three years I'll surpass Kakashi in seal-forming speed.'
A good amount of chakra. Exceptional hand-seal execution. And near-perfect chakra control.
'I have no reason to limit myself to only learning Yang Release.'
Without hesitation, Kiba slowly began focusing his chakra into the sensing paper. The instant the energy touched the surface, the paper crumbled into flakes, disintegrating completely between his fingers.
'Hmm… so my affinity is Earth.'
He stayed silent for a few seconds, looking at the remains of the paper on the floor.
'The only strong Earth style users that come to mind right now are the Third Tsuchikage (Ōnoki), Jiraiya, and Akatsuchi…'
The Earth style was versatile. Good for both defense and offense. Most ninja had one or two Earth jutsu, even without a natural affinity.
'Having an affinity with Earth just means I have an easier time handling and learning techniques of that style. It doesn't stop me from using jutsu of other natures.'
Kiba leaned back against the wall, crossing his arms.
'With my chakra control, I'm fully confident I could learn jutsu of other natures with very good proficiency.'
He stayed silent for a long moment, reviewing his entire current arsenal.
'Let's go over everything I have so far…'
CHAKRA CONTROL
Excellent. He could circulate energy through his body with near-perfect fluidity and expel small amounts in a controlled way.
Motor Coordination and Hand Seals
Extremely advanced for his age. In a few years, he could form seals at absurd speeds.
Chakra reserve
Equal to two genin. Above average, but still far from impressive compared to adults.
Smell and Tracking
Already at a level superior to Hana's. He could break down complex scents and detect chakra signatures at considerable distances.
Chakra Sensory Perception
He could locate people within a considerable distance with precision and easily sense their presences.
Beast Mimicry – Four Legs Technique
He could successfully activate the full transformation. The form lasted about thirty to forty minutes and genuinely increased his strength, speed, and instinct. It still had a time limit and consumed a lot of chakra.
Beast Claws
A variant he developed — basically a partial version of the beast mimicry where he elongates his hands into savage claws capable of causing serious damage.
'I'm still weak, but not for much longer.'
'The more tools I have, the more options I'll have in the future. And the more options I have… the harder I'll be to predict.'
Kiba looked again at his hands, where a few flakes of the chakra paper still remained.
'Earth… a solid affinity. Defensive, offensive, and with good potential for battlefield control.'
He slowly clenched his fists.
'I won't limit myself. I'll learn to use Earth as my base… and, over time, expand into other natures. My control allows for that.'
His black eyes gleamed with determination.
