A black Ferrari zooms through the street of Los Angels. The car works its way towards a tall building with the name Maxwell written at the entrance. At the entrance of a huge company, the car parks and a tall man steps out of it. The man was at least 7 feet tall, black haired, well built and tanned.At twenty-seven, Eric took over the Maxwell Advertising Companies after the death of his father.Now closing in on his thirties, he has succeeded in making the company global. As he walked towards the door,another man joins him. John is Eric's best friend and employee. they've known each other since their second year at Oxford.
Eric: Hi John.
John: What's up Eric my man. How ya doing?
Eric: well I'm living my single and boring life as you can see. How about you and how was your night with Rita?
John: It was superb. Rita's figure came in handy and I was able to ram her hard for more than thirty minutes.
Eric: but what happened?
John gives him a confused look. What more could happen.
John: what do you mean by that?
Eric: look John you are never satisfied with the girls you get your hands on,so,my question still remains, what happened?
John gives out a sigh.
John: You know what happens when you take too much sweets and can't stop?
Eric: oh she's a sex addict. Hahahahaha. What were her demands?
John: come on man are you reading my mind? Okay, she asked for me to go seven times.
Eric: Woah, aren't those your type you always tell me about. Bro I think you should start your own whore house hehehehe [laughing sarcastically]. It could serve as an extra source of income.
Eric walks faster after his statement. He knew what could happen if John was close to him.
John: what, are you nuts, what do you take me for, some kind of sex freak?
John chases him till he gets into his office. At the premises of the company,a beautiful lady comes out of a brand new Toyota Camry, as she walks into the building,the boy around drooled at her. Mary Richards, a tall, light skinned, long black hair and twenty-four, someone fit to win miss world. And she's also the company's main clerk.
John: Oh, here comes the beauty of this company. She is really good at her job you know, and beautiful too. I wish I could have her in my bed.
Eric: what does she do here, and what's her name?
John: you don't know your clerk's name. Jesus Christ Eric are you having memory loss?
Eric: I am not John. I know who she is. She looks different today.
Mary: Good morning, how was your night?
Eric: It was pleasant, thank you. Are the files from yesterday ready?
Mary: Yes sir I'll get them to your office.
Eric walks into his office. He wasn't the type who dilly dallied when it comes to work. Even at the early stage of him running the company, he was always respected for his determination and discipline.
Mary: It's time to get to work.
Eric entered his office. When everyone started going to their desks, all eyes fell on Mary as she walked to her desk. In Eric's office his adopted brother and the manager waits for him. George was adopted by Maxwell right after Eric was born. They never wanted their son to be lonely.
George: what's up Eric? Looking good.
Eric: thanks George. The files for today's presentation?
George hands some files to Eric and the work begins. It's lunch time, everyone is at the cafeteria. Eric, John, and George sat together at a table. Usually they would hang around their offices while eating, but today Eric presents the employees with a consolation break for all their effort.
Eric: hope everything for the presentation is ready?
John: yep.
At the other end of the cafeteria, Mary, Sam and Ella are seated together. The girls have been close since Mary walked into the company as the new intake. The other saw them as some kind of girls only club, not until today.
Ella: I have news for you guys.
She brings her hand to the table and shows off the twinkle on her finger. A ring with a diamond on it rested on her middle finger.The girls are amazed.
Sam: wow, who's the guy Ella? You are going into the life, no? Now you are gonna leave us to our single life.
Ella: It's the manager, George. It has always been him.
Mary: Wow we actually thought it was likely going to remain in the dating zone. We are happy for you.
At the guys table, the same conversation was been held. It was a surprise when George laid it on the boys about his engagement. For someone who has always had no time for girls, from their college days till he dropped the bomb that he was in a relationship.
John: Wow man you really want to leave your brother alone. Well I won't blame you, someone actually wanted to remain virgin till death.And you've got taste too.
Eric: What, no I'm not,come on John is this how friendly you are to me. Let me guess you too will end up with someone, Rita to be precised. Congrats brother I'm happy for you, dad will be proud. So have you told mom, and when is the wedding?
George: Haven't told her yet and the date hasn't been decided yet. Could you choose a date for me? I'll appreciate it.
Eric felt happy for his brother, he couldn't wait for him to get home and face his mother concerning his own marriage. The girls are at the topic of their ideal man.
Ella: come on Mary this again? If there is someone you love why don't you tell the person. You know you could loose him.
Sam: she's shy, and not ready for rejection. Ain't I right Mary.
Mary: Not that, I just haven't seen one. You can never know what these men have in mind.
She has never been approached because most men think she's taken. And those who don't think that are after what's in between her legs. At the guys table, John looks at Eric as if he was waiting for him to say something. Eric is focused on the view he was getting from the window.John looks out the window too.
John: Have you found her yet?
Eric: What, who?
John: The woman of your dreams. I see you looking out the window so I guessed she's the one you are looking for.
Eric: Really John. Is that what you want to do now?
They both stare at Eric. Eric look at them with a straight face. They all look away, but Eric decides to continue the conversation. He faces George.
Eric: George, so you've seen your ideal woman?
George: Yes, Ella is the most beautiful woman I've seen.
Eric: we already know that George. You've said that since forever today.
John: yeah he has but each time this topic comes up, you'll always run from it.
Eric: fine, I'll tell you my dream queen.
The guys are surprised and attentive. Eric never always talk about his dream woman, the reason was only known to him.
John: Finally he speaks his mind.
Eric: I don't know how love works but, I need someone who loves me for me and not for my money, looks or fame. I need someone who can bear me up when I'm down,who can cover my weaknesses...
While he was talking, he observes the silence. He stops talking. Yeah it's what he always tried avoided whenever the topic came up. When it came to his relationship, people tend to make fun out of him like his father. Back when he was alive, he would tease Eric at his school entrance when ever a boy calls him. " I pray oh Lord that my son finds a woman not a man", he would laugh at it and walk away.
George: there is someone like that…
John cuts him short.
John: yeah there are people like that. They are also easy to find.
Eric: easy to find? They are very rare.
George: John?
John: what? I need love too, real love. You see there is this dating app " ASK ME OUT". All you have to do is sign in, and let the app find a perfect match for you. You can also manually search for someone.
John quickly brings out his phone and shows it to Eric. As interesting as it looked, Eric never believed that a computer would be able to know true feelings and intentions of the heart.At the girls' table, Sam also introduces the app to Mary.
Sam: Come on Mary, try the app.
Mary: nah,love is not what a computer decides for you Sam. Ella say something. Is this how you met George?
Ella's silence affirms it, Mary leaves them angrily. Sam and Ella also leave following her.
John: Eric don't you want to find your sleeping beauty. Or is it snow white you are in search of?
Eric: We should get back to the office, we have a presentation to prepare for.
The presentation was successful as always and the contract was finalized. Eric dismisses everyone from the office. On his way out, he sees Mary still at her desk.
Eric: What are you still doing here?
Mary: I'm arranging the documents we got from the meeting today.
Eric: Oh, okay don't stay late.
Eric gets out of the building and drives away in his Ferrari. His mind becomes unsettled.
Eric:{in thoughts} hmm what boring life I have. How can I have the money,looks,brains and not still find someone attracted to me? Ahhh I boring life I have.
Eric gets into his house, takes a shower and has his dinner and is off to bed. Unable to sleep he decides to check out the dating app and signs in. Various women popped up as his match. The next day at the cafeteria.
Eric: so I signed in last night and found someone.
John: oh my man you are good. So did you guys hookup yet?
Eric: no dude that's so soon.
George: yeah but you need to see the person you are getting into it with.
Eric: yeah already did that, she sent me a photo.
He opens his phone and shows them the photo. The woman in the picture is a damsel every man will want to be with.
John: woah, she damn pretty. That's the main reason you should meet her.
George: yeah, you need to confirm she is the real deal.
Eric: fine,tomorrow.
The girls are at their table. They were discussing about they normal routine for the weekend.
Mary: what's happening tomorrow?
Ella:Sam is going on a date tomorrow.
Sam: yeah girl I have a date tomorrow
Mary: Wow, and who is this mystery man and when are we going to meet him?
Sam: calm down girl, we just started chatting last night, so I don't really know him yet.
Mary: wait are you trying to tell me that you met through the same app you told me about last night?
Ella: Give it a try, get the dating app and maybe you'll find someone.
Sam: let her be. She wants to die a virgin.
Mary becomes upset.She leaves the girls at the table while Ella gives Sam a good stare. She had gone too far. The day is almost over. At Mary's house, she is in her room with her phone. Thinking about what Sam had said, her mom, Mrs Richards walks in and sits on the bed with her.
Mrs Richards: What's wrong baby? You look down.
Mary: Nothing mom.
Mrs Richards: You know you can tell me, I'm always here for you.
Mary: Ella just got engaged and is about to get married.
Mrs Richards knew where the topic was going so she cuddled her daughter and consoled her. After much talk and consolation, she leaves her daughter to herself. Mary picks up her phone and again and signs into the dating app.
