When he made his plans, he always thought of the worst-case scenario, not because he was cowardly or always feared the worst possible result, but because he wanted to always be ready to crush whatever that worst-case scenario was.
It was why, when he had first started in this world, he cared so much about information. Only with enough information could he plan ahead as much as he needed to. Only with enough information could he accurately assess just what the worst-case scenario was. Only with enough information could he ensure that he would always win no matter the circumstance.
