"Are you okay?" I was taken aback by her question. "Why did you shout? Did someone disrespect you?" She furrowed her eyebrows while asking. I couldn't respond and just looked at her face.
"Hey... Laurene." I blinked and smiled at her hesitantly.
"I-I'm okay. I was just practicing to be a belter." I gave my reason and pretended to clear my throat to start singing again. "Ahem, ahem..."
I couldn't read her reaction due to my excuse. Even I would be bewildered if someone shouted and the reason was just practicing voice lessons.
Later on, she raised an eyebrow, and I saw the corner of her lips twitch up.
"So, you're still practicing that?"
"Huh? What?"
"Singing," he smirked. "From what I remember, you're already good."
"Huh?"
I couldn't grasp what he meant and carried that confusion with me back home. It was only there that I understood the meaning when I accidentally saw my toys. I hadn't thrown them away yet; I had just hidden them, making sure no one would see them.
