The next day at the royal courtroom
Marilyn stands between the council members as she's been drilled. Nobody believes a word she says in her defence as the previous sequence of events points to her as the perpetrator.
"So, Miss James, you're trying to tell this council that you went into Maverick's room to discuss political affairs? He's neither the King and doesn't have much say in the government here. You too are not a council member, so what exact business were you both discussing?" A council member asks.
"Where's Ai… Where's the king?" She asks, looking around.
"He has better issues at hand to attend to, so the council is tasked with preceeding of your case, whatever our decision is, he'll give his approval." He says.
"The Prince's murder is a trivia case then?" Hatia questions under her breath with a huff.
"My father?" Marilyn asks wearily.
"We decided it's best he doesn't join us to preside over his daughter's case."
