Weilan paused, asking herself the same question, yet seemed to find no answer.
She made a misstep, thinking she could get past it, but apparently, she couldn't.
She didn't even know why she cared so much, why she was so concerned.
She shook her head: "Brother Hechen, I don't know."
"Weilan, by being this way, you're tormenting yourself, and me, you know?" Lu Hechen couldn't help but say, "But I have no solution; it's all my own doing."
Weilan knew it wasn't entirely true, at least not completely.
She didn't say anything, unable to open her mouth, afraid that her words might hurt more.
She couldn't control it.
In silence, held by Lu Hechen for a while, he finally released Weilan.
When leaving, Lu Hechen gazed deeply at Weilan, his eyes as black as ink filled with continual pain and pity.
He looked at Weilan for a moment, finally saying to her, "Alright, I'm going back now. Call me if you need anything."
Weilan nodded.
Only then did Lu Hechen turn and leave.
