If Shiayar and Augutina were together in reality, they wouldn't even need to speak; just a thought would reveal each other's feelings, just like the telepathic exchange between Shiayar and Silver.
Even if they were physically apart in reality, unable to achieve real-time mental communication... as long as they weren't too far apart, not separated by an entire world barrier like the Abyss and the Main Material Plane, then Shiayar could still vaguely sense the other's feelings, albeit with some delay.
This was like establishing a communication line between them.

From this response, Shiayar could sense Augutina's rich humor.
And a sense of triumph and fulfillment.
