Chapter 435 - Chapter CLXI - Dragon Raid (part 2)

"Rath, tell the villagers not to do anything. I'll face them myself."

"O-Okay…"

Rath ran back to the villagers to tell them my message. He made it just in time when the dragons started to show in the distance.

"RROOAAAAHHH!!!!"

The dragon on the front screamed really loudly, but I don't feel afraid of these things anymore. I simply stood still as I released a small pressure, to let them know that I'm here.

The two dragons kept on flying and landed merely ten meters away from me. The ground got destroyed by their gigantic foot landing, and it caused a slight quake in the nearby area.

The two dragons are indeed big, but the biggest one is the yellow skinned regular dragon. A White ranked monster, capable of threatening the entire kingdom simply by existing.

The villagers did what Rath asked and they didn't attack. Though some of them are really worried and never let go of the string of their bows. The pressures of the two powerful dragons does get to them, which is very fortunate how none of them released a single arrow.

I looked up to the dragons, and then I spoke.

"Are you all enemies of humans?"

I need to make sure first. I don't want to go around and kill innocent dragons like before, even though those dragons were still enemies. But if there's a chance that the dragons I'm facing do not wish for humans to go extinct, then I will continue asking.

Hearing my question, the dragons glared at each other. They really do have intelligence. The White ranked regular turned back at me and laughed.

"Haha. Look at this puny human talking to us."

"I can understand you, so save your small brain for someone else."

"W-What!?"

This one talked normally, somehow. The dragon from that pit talked like a toddler who just learned how to speak. This one can communicate perfectly.

How interesting, indeed…

Rath watched from a distance as I communicated with the dragons. To him and the villagers, I am talking normally, but the dragons aren't exactly talking and simply letting out growls.

The dragons glared at each other again and then it turned back to face me.

"To think a human was able to speak our tongue… Are you even human?"

"Answer my question, Lizard."

The dragon immediately laughed.

"Oh, human. You can talk our language and suddenly get cocky.

Yes, we are your enemies... The dragons are the mortal enemies of the humans. Our birth was none other than to kill all of you… Because that, is what our god desires, after all."

"Your god?"

"Yes, the dragon god. He really hates you humans, apparently. As a result, we were sent to slay all of you!"

The two dragons exploded into laughter. While the regular one is the only one who can talk, the lesser dragon seems to understand me, but is unable to communicate. It can still laugh though, so that's interesting.

"I see… Then I won't be holding back."

"Haha! Look at this human! She really does know how to play around!"

The dragons opened their wings and they looked really fearsome now. They opened their mouths, ready for an attack.

I thought about what kind of thing I should do. I know there might be more dragons than these two. I need them all to come at the same time so that I can hunt them without having to search for them. Maybe if I…

… All right.

Let's go with that plan.

First, I unleashed twenty percent of my pressure.

VWOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The air became super stiff and heavy. The ground crumbles as the rocks are bouncing in the ground and slowly start floating. Birds stopped chirping, while the ones that were flying fell to the ground.

The villagers also got affected, even though it's not much. They all coughed while trying to breathe, including Rath who is protecting himself with his own pressure.

"Damn it, Rize…"

The dragons in front of me quickly stopped their moves and dropped to the ground. They had their whole body glued to the ground, and unable to move at all.

The pressure was so powerful that it could make the two dragons kiss the ground. With only the pressure, these dragons have already lost.

"What is… Stop…"

Now, they will absolutely listen to me.

"You dragons are always so cocky… coming to the territory of beings that are ten times smaller than you, thinking that you are in every way superior… How laughable.

Call your friends to come here. All, at the same time…

I will be waiting for you all."

FWOOSHH!!!

After I gave the invitation, I let go of the pressure. The villagers can breathe again, and the dragons can move once more.

The two dragons quickly got up and flew away. They ran towards the south where they came from, and probably to call their whole pack to come.

I turned around and went to the village.

While the villagers thought the pressure was the power of the dragons, Rath knows exactly well that they came from me. He came to me and complained about not being able to breathe and nearly killing the villagers. I quickly apologized to him, and headed to the roof of the tallest building.

I waited there for some progress, because from up here, I can see quite a lot of things surrounding the entire village. While I'm up here watching for things to happen, Rath is dealing with the villagers by himself. He is probably helping them with some stuff on the defenses, nothing I should be minding about.

And after a while, a carriage seemed to be arriving from the north.

After the carriage arrived, Fran and the others stepped out from the carriage while me and Rath waited on the gate of the village.

Everyone was more curious about how the flight was for Rath, and he told them it was nothing.

"Really? You were talking gibberish all the time."

"You, shut up!"

Everyone laughed while Rath tried to regain his honor. Fran studied the surroundings to see if there's dragons, but it looked like there wasn't.

"Ah right. I should fill you guys in."

I explained to everyone about what happened before they came. The fact that a regular dragon and a lesser dragon came to the village and nearly attacked them. They are lucky that I can fly, otherwise any later, there wouldn't even be a village.

Only a sea of flames.

"Then? What happens now?"

Fran asked me, so I placed my hand on my chin and thought.

"Well, I told the dragon to call their friends and bring them all here. With all of them in one spot, we can fight them more easily."

"What!? Rize, this is a village!"

"Relax, we can protect them. What is more important is the size of the pack."

Fran noticed that I knew something, and she quickly turned grim from how worrisome this might be.

"W-Why?"

"If they sent a White ranked regular as a scout, then that means the group is probably more powerful than the pack we fought at the previous mission."

I explained to Fran, and she began pondering about it as well.

Truthfully, I'm not entirely sure what to feel about this, since I have no idea how dangerous their pack is. But if what I'm suspecting is true, then…

"Hmm, that's true... So far, the scouts have always been lesser dragons. If they sent a regular dragon as a scout, then that would mean the pack is much larger and more powerful… possibly more dangerous than any in the past."

"… We might be looking at a whole army of dragons here."

I muttered, and everyone quickly felt hopeless.

It was the same thing with any other monsters that had scouts in their ranks, like goblins or Misoh.

For goblins or any other dungeon monsters, we can tell how powerful their pack is by what kind of scouts they had. If they have three to seven scouts, then it might be a simple goblin raid led by a hobgoblin. If they have ten to twenty, it might be a goblin camp led by a much stronger type of goblin. But if there's more than thirty, then it will be a goblin kingdom.

For dragons, if they sent a lower ranking dragon like the Yellow ranked lesser dragon, then it can be said that the pack is rather small. So for this time, the fact that they have a White ranked regular dragon as a scout, simply means that this pack is quite large.

This will be… a difficult battle indeed.
