Chapter 401 – The New King of Slaughter
Slaughter City.
"A god whose name I remember must at least be at the Divine King level."
The black mist fell silent. After a moment, it finally spoke. "Who am I? I am the oldest being in all of heaven and earth. Even the Dragon God came after me. So listen well, brat—if you ever hear me mention a god by name, then that god's cultivation is at least at the Divine King realm. Anyone below that isn't even worthy of my notice. Understand?"
To encounter someone this idiotic—who knew if his luck was good or bad?
It didn't even regard Divine Kings seriously, yet this fool thought it was talking about some low-tier god?
"Divine King...!"
Upon hearing this, Tang San's eyes widened. After a brief shock, he composed himself and asked, "If that's the case, can I inherit his god position?"
"Are you f*cking stupid?"
The black mist couldn't hold it back any longer. It exploded, "Didn't you hear me arguing with those Divine Kings from the God Realm when we fought the God of Thunder? What, Tang San—you think all those Divine Kings were blind and couldn't recognize your face?"
Hearing this, Tang San's expression darkened. He clenched his fists.
This damn thing actually dared to insult him—clearly courting death.
"Hurry up and get to work. For me to take a liking to someone like you... must be the result of eight lifetimes of bad luck!" the black mist cursed. It didn't regard Tang San as anything special at all.
If it weren't for needing Tang San's body to recover its strength quickly, this trash wouldn't even qualify to meet it.
"I get it!"
With a shout, Tang San charged forward with the Clear Sky Hammer in hand.
So what if he couldn't use soul skills or soul power? So what if his later soul rings were only ten-year rings? He was still a Soul Douluo.
He refused to believe he couldn't take down a mere gatekeeper.
Just as Tang San expected, the so-called black-armored knight couldn't withstand a few swings from his Clear Sky Hammer.
With a final blow, the knight was smashed into a bloody pulp—leaving behind a single iron token.
"What the hell is this?"
Tang San blinked at the token that had fallen from the knight's corpse. He crouched down, picked it up, and examined it.
There was a skull engraved on it, with a string of numbers underneath.
"Hey, I'm asking you—what the hell is this?"
Unable to figure it out, Tang San looked toward the nearby soldiers.
"That's a Slaughter City identity token," one soldier answered quickly, now trembling with fear after seeing their leader killed so easily.
"Once you enter Slaughter City, you'll need this to fight, buy food, or even purchase women. But of course, the premise is you have enough Blood Marys."
"Blood Marys? What's that?"
After devouring the corpses beneath his feet, Tang San stepped forward and asked in confusion.
It was his first time here. He had no idea what a Blood Mary was.
But when he heard it could be used to buy women, a lewd glint flashed through his eyes.
He had been holding back for over twenty years. The frustration had reached its limit.
Since he was here now, he might as well indulge himself.
Later, once he gained enough power—enough to defeat Kong and that woman—then he'd truly savor the taste of a so-called peerless beauty.
At that thought, Tang San's heart filled with excitement.
He had already begun fantasizing about the day he'd trample Kong beneath his feet… and toy with his woman however he pleased.
"It's human blood," the soldiers replied, not daring to lie. They could only explain truthfully.
"I see."
Now understanding what it was, Tang San didn't hesitate. He killed everyone in front of him on the spot.
He devoured their flesh and souls, while carefully storing their blood in bottles.
After dealing with this little episode, Tang San began walking deeper into the city.
"Welcome to Slaughter City," a woman dressed in black gauze stood at the gate and bowed, making a graceful gesture of invitation.
Beneath the veil, her pale skin faintly showed through.
Seeing this, Tang San's eyes lit up. What luck. Just what I wanted—now it appears right in front of me.
He followed the veiled woman into the city.
What met his eyes was a world of deep blues and purples. All the lights hanging on both sides of the street emitted only these two hues.
There were quite a few pedestrians walking around, but none paid any attention to Tang San, the outsider.
This was Slaughter City.
Every day, people who were hunted down and had nowhere else to go would come here to hide from death.
Aside from the gloom and darkness, the city looked no different from an ordinary one at first glance.
"I am your guide," the veiled woman said softly as she walked beside Tang San.
"If there's anything you don't understand, you can ask me. I will answer all your questions within the next twelve hours. After twelve hours, this will become your home—and you will officially be a member of Slaughter City."
After the previous King of Slaughter disappeared, those who served as his city guard became the strongest individuals here.
That former king, in order to save himself effort managing the city, had deliberately recruited certain people.
With his consent and assistance, these individuals became the only ones—other than the king himself—who were allowed to use soul power and soul skills within Slaughter City.
Because of this, they came to dominate the entire city and eventually selected a new King of Slaughter.
"Who's the strongest person here right now? What's their strength level?" Tang San asked, after a short silence.
The veiled woman looked puzzled, not sure why he asked, but answered honestly, "Soul Douluo level. Their soul power is around rank 85."
"Eighty-five? Soul Douluo?"
Tang San nodded thoughtfully. Then he spoke inwardly to the black mist, "Senior, did you hear that? The strongest person here isn't even a Title Douluo."
"So what? What are you planning to do?" the black mist asked indifferently.
"Can you help me restore my strength?" Tang San asked seriously. "As long as I recover my power, I guarantee I can kill this so-called strongest person—and take control of this place."
