Chapter 9 - Planet Stroll – The Next Mission

The morning sun barely rose over the horizon as Adam, Shawn, Max, Elizabeth, and Tyler gathered in the academy's briefing room, ready for their next mission. The air buzzed with a nervous energy—there was something different about this assignment. Blake, their instructor, stood at the front of the room, his arms crossed, a look of determination on his face.

"Alright, listen up," Blake's voice rang out, drawing everyone's attention. "We're going on a planet stroll today. We've been prepping for this, and now it's time to get some real field experience. Each group will be sent to different sectors of the planet. Your goal is to explore, gather intel, and eliminate any threats that come your way. Most of the demons we're encountering are low-tier, but stay sharp. There's always the chance something stronger could show up."

Adam's thoughts drifted for a moment. It had been a while since he'd been in the field, and after yesterday's fight with Drake, he was itching to test himself again. He didn't care if the demons were low-tier. He needed to push his limits.

Blake continued, pacing in front of the class. "Each group will have two teachers accompanying you, so don't worry about getting ambushed. But remember, there's a point system in play. If you encounter a demon higher than an advanced tier, report it immediately. The team with the most points at the end wins. So keep your eyes peeled."

"Alright," Adam muttered to his group. "Let's do this."

He had always wanted to be in a situation like this, where the only thing that mattered was how well you could perform in battle. There were no systems, no shortcuts—just raw skill and the power of your ability. And today, he was ready to show everyone exactly what he was capable of.

When they arrived in the portal room, the air was thick with tension. They were briefed on the rules of the mission: explore the planet, find and fight demons, report anything higher than an advanced tier, and the group with the most points wins.

It was supposed to be a simple task—get in, do the job, and get out. But nothing ever went as planned.

As they stepped through the portal, Adam could feel the change in the air. This planet was unlike anything he had ever experienced. It was barren, desolate, with an eerie red sky and jagged, dark mountains looming in the distance. They moved cautiously, weapons ready, their eyes scanning the surroundings for any signs of movement.

The group fought a few lower-tier demons, nothing they couldn't handle. But they were clearly getting more and more aggressive, as though something larger was about to emerge.

Adam kept his senses sharp, feeling the fluctuations of power in the air. That's when they realized Max was missing.

"Where the hell did he go?" Tyler called out, looking around.

"Max?" Elizabeth shouted, her voice tinged with worry.

It didn't take long before they found him, cornered by a massive dragon demon-like creature, the ground quaking beneath its massive feet.

"Max, what are you getting yourself into?!" Adam yelled, his heart skipping a beat as he saw his friend struggling.

Max, bloodied and weak from the explosion, was trying to hold his ground. The creature towered over him, its eyes glowing a deep crimson. Before Adam could make a move, the dragon demon swung its massive tail, knocking Max back.

"Damn it, Max! WATCH OUT!" Adam screamed, his blood boiling with rage.

And then it happened. The explosion rocked the ground, a blast so intense it lit up the entire sky. Adam's stomach twisted with dread as he watched Max fall. His friend was motionless on the ground.

"Max!" Adam shouted, panic flooding his chest. The sight of his friend crumpled in a heap was too much.

Adam's body shook with fury. The system inside him pulsed, the blue flame flickering in his chest. Enough is enough.

His vision blurred as the power surged through him. The blue glow of his fur ignited, tails materializing in the air, each one glowing with raw elemental energy. He felt the fire in his veins, the wind swirling around him, lightning sparking in the air, earth quaking beneath his feet. He was more than just Adam now—he was something else entirely.

A rush of power erupted from him, manifesting as three colossal arrows formed from fire, wind, and light, hurling them down at the dragon demon with everything he had.

The earth shook, and for a moment, everything went quiet.

But then, Lance's voice echoed out from behind them, sending a shiver down Adam's spine. "Impressive, little brother. But I'm still stronger."

Lance appeared, completely unscathed, a smug look on his face. "You think you can beat me? I'm the Dragon Demon, Adam. I'm your brother."

Adam froze, his blood running cold. He turned around to face Lance, his fists clenching. His brother? Adam's mind raced as everything started to click into place.

The last thing he had expected was for his enemy to be family. But now, Lance was here, and nothing would be the same again.

Lance's dark figure loomed over them. "It's simple, Adam. You come with me, and no one else has to die."

Adam could feel the weight of the decision crushing him. But before he could answer, Lance disappeared into the shadows, leaving Adam to confront his own thoughts and the destruction that had just unfolded before him.

He turned back to Max, who was still lying motionless on the ground, blood staining the earth around him. There was no time to lose. If he didn't act fast, Max wouldn't survive.

"Max," Adam whispered, rushing to his side.

Elizabeth kneeled beside him, her voice trembling. "Is he...?"

Adam didn't answer. Instead, he looked down at Max's pale form, his thoughts racing. His father's voice echoed in his head, dark and foreboding.

"You can save him, Adam. Give him your blood."

There was no hesitation. Adam pricked his finger, watching his glowing blood drip onto Max's wounds. Max's body jerked as the transformation began. His form shifted, hair darkening, eyes glowing with a feral yellow light.

[You have made a Werewolf.]

Max stirred, his movements more agile, his body filled with raw power. He rose, standing taller, stronger than before. Adam looked at him with both awe and regret. This was the price of power.

"Adam," Max said, voice thick with shock, "what have you done to me?"

Adam sighed, his gaze heavy. "I've turned you into a demon. A werewolf. You're one of us now."

His friends stood in stunned silence as Max, now a demon, tried to come to terms with his new form. But there was no time to explain. They had bigger problems to face.

"We need to leave GO NOW."

In a darkened classroom, Alex stood amidst a pile of lifeless bodies, his breathing heavy and his hands slick with blood. The graduation test was simple: kill or be killed. And Alex had survived.

"Grandfather," Alex muttered as he stepped out of the carnage, "I've proven myself. I'm ready to go to Earth."

His grandfather, the demon overseer, grinned. "If you can come back alive, I'll allow it."

Alex didn't wait for further instructions. He opened a portal and stepped through, emerging in a bustling human city. The clash of modernity against his bloodstained form drew disgusted stares, but Alex ignored them.

"Hey, where can I get a beer?" he asked a passerby.

Moments later, a group of suited agents surrounded him.

"Kid, how old are you?" one of them asked.

"Uh... sixteen," Alex replied, his voice tinged with sarcasm.

"You're coming with us," another said, throwing a black bag over his head.
