The stone door closed behind them with a deep rumble that echoed through the narrow passage.
Darkness immediately swallowed the tunnel.
Felix raised the lantern higher, its golden light pushing back the shadows just enough for the four of them to see where they were going. The flame flickered as though disturbed by a breeze that none of them could feel.
No one spoke.
The silence itself felt alive.
Ella instinctively moved closer to Salvador, their fingers finding each other without either of them thinking about it. Harvey walked behind them, his eyes scanning every corner of the tunnel while Felix remained in front, taking careful steps.
"This place is older than the castle," Harvey finally whispered.
Felix nodded without taking his eyes off the path.
"The stone isn't the same."
Ella gently brushed her fingers along the wall as they walked.
It was surprisingly smooth despite its age.
Someone had polished these stones countless years ago.
