Scarlet was still sitting firmly on Strax's lap, as if defending her territory. Her arms were around his neck, her body pressed against his—a clear, direct, admittedly provocative posture.
And the egg…
The egg looked like it was about to explode.
The shell pulsed with bluish light at irregular intervals, as if the creature inside was struggling, kicking, demanding attention.
Or rather, demanding that Scarlet get out.
The floor vibrated slightly.
Strax sighed, massaging his eyebrow with his thumb while keeping his other hand firmly on his wife's waist so she wouldn't slip.
"…Okay. This is going too far," he murmured, watching the egg tremble like a possessive drum. "That little guy in there definitely has consciousness. It hasn't even hatched yet and it's already reacting to its environment. This is… very strange."
Scarlet snorted, twirling slightly in his lap just to tease—both the egg and her husband.
