Chapter 27 - Real intention of comrades

My body trembled, half-exhausted, my left eye glowing golden from the sacrifice. The Demon King's corpse smoldered, his catastrophic regeneration finally undone by my Holy Part Sacrifice. I had won—but victory was hollow.

The chamber doors slammed open. The Elite Four Demons entered, their eyes burning with fury. My allies—the Vampire Queen, Yevna the Necromancer, and Tamara the Slime Girl—stood bloodied, their powers drained from holding back the tide.

The Vampire Queen hissed. "We fought to protect you, Hero. But the elites are stronger than we imagined."

Yevna's undead army crumbled, corpses falling lifeless. "Even with the bracelet's strength, I cannot hold them."

Tamara staggered, her liquid form flickering. "My absorption is failing. They are too powerful."

The Elite Four surrounded us. Their voices echoed like thunder.

Lizuno Lenim sneered. "You killed our king. Now you will die."

Silku Salem spat. "Your comrades fled like cowards. You stand alone."

Nagu Thevar growled. "Even your new allies cannot save you."

Elite Dark raised his blade. "This is the end, Hero."

I raised my sword, my golden eye blazing. "I defeated the Demon King. I will defeat you too. Even if I die, I will not yield."

The Vampire Queen stepped forward, blood dripping from her lips. "You saved my people. I will fight beside you until the end."

Yevna smirked, though her eyes were weary. "I chose to follow you. If this is the end, then I will see it through."

Tamara whispered, "My family told me to choose my path. I chose you. I will not abandon you."

The Elite Four attacked.

Lizuno unleashed storms of lightning. I raised my Holy Shield, invisible, absorbing the strikes. My clones darted forward, striking his chest. He staggered, but did not fall.

Silku conjured firestorms, his cryokinetics twisting flames into blades. I dodged with Holy Path, circling, striking, but his flames burned my side.

Nagu summoned earth pillars, crushing the chamber. Tamara absorbed the stone, her liquid body holding it back, but she screamed in pain.

Elite Dark invoked shadow voids, pulling at my lifeline. Yevna's undead army surged, blocking the void, but crumbled under the strain.

I struck with Holy Slash, catastrophic energy surging. My golden eye glowed brighter, my strength amplified. The Vampire Queen unleashed Blood Strike, tearing into Lizuno. Tamara absorbed Nagu, paralyzing him. Yevna summoned corpses, binding Silku.

But Elite Dark remained. His shadow void consumed the chamber. He laughed. "You cannot defeat us all. You are only human."

I raised my sword. "I am catastrophe. I am Hero."

My clones struck, my shield shimmered, my golden eye blazed. Elite Dark staggered, his void collapsing.

The chamber shook. The Demon King's throne cracked. Narrate's voice whispered.

You have defeated the Demon King. But catastrophe is not over. The Elite Four remain. Your allies bleed. Your strength wanes. This is the true trial.

I clenched my sword. My companions had betrayed me, fleeing with the teleportation stone. But these three—vampire, necromancer, slime—stood beside me.

I whispered, "Even if betrayal surrounds me, even if catastrophe consumes me—I will fight. For the locals. For peace. For humanity."

The Elite Four roared, charging. My golden eye burned brighter.

Thus begins the final battle: Hero and his unlikely allies against the Elite Four. Betrayal has stripped him of his party, but catastrophe has given him strength. The golden eye shines—the last hope of humankind.
