The man's hand rested on her waist. Although he didn't touch her, the gesture was ambiguous enough to feel as if he was holding her in his arms. Xiao Yu's heart raced, and she didn't even dare to look into his eyes.
Gong Ting lowered his head, looking at the woman half-embraced in his arms. He thought he must be really foolish; the more she looked down on him, the more entranced he became, wanting to get close to her.
"There's a charity event tonight. You'll accompany me," Gong Ting withdrew his hand, sticking it into his pocket, appearing strictly businesslike.
Xiao Yu's breathing eased a bit. She immediately realized what the man was saying, and quickly looked up at him, "You want me to accompany you to the charity event?"
"Yes, the event requires a female companion, and I couldn't find anyone suitable." Gong Ting didn't actually have trouble finding someone suitable. With a wave of his hand, countless women would jump at the chance.
He was merely finding an excuse to see her.
