Chapter 15 - CH. 15 - The Classes and Their Teachers

The next day before class, Wolf stands with a shocked look as the boy from before stares back at her with the same look.

"You! What are you doing here??"

They both shout as the other students ignore them.

"Come on guys, not on the first day." Moshiro says with a frustrated look.

"Wolf! Don't cause a scene!"

Phoenix says behind her. The boy catches her name and looks down on Wolf with a disapproving look.

"So, your name is Wolf. How lame."

Wolf gets angry and shouts back at the boy.

"Oh yeah? What's yours? Baldy Poopypants?"

A vein pops on his head.

"It is Cole. Cole Jigoku."

Wolf presses her lips together angrily but listens to Phoenix's words and tries not to cause a scene.

"Wolf. Wolf Anderson."

She says, offer her hand to shake. Cole hesitates but takes her hand, shaking it aggressively.

"Making new friends already, Cole?"

A girl says coming from behind him only for her to stop when she notices Wolf. Both of their eyes grow wide as they stare at each other before hugging excitedly, Wolf lifting her up and spinning her around in her arms.

"Alston??" Wolf shouts excitedly.

"Wolf! How long has it been??"

Alston asks excitedly as they step back from each other.

"Too long! I missed you so much! You've… changed a lot."

She says, suddenly noticing Alston's large chest, blushing a bit. Yoko then jumps on Wolf's shoulders shouting.

"Woah! I've never seen such impressive firesacs on a human before!"

They shout as Wolf stares only for Phoenix to smack them both on the back of their heads.

"Stop perving on the poor girl!"

Phoenix commands with a huff before turning to Alston with a smile.

"Hi, I'm Phoenix. I'm Wolf's bestfriend." She says with a smile.

"Alston, Alston Lexare. I'm glad to see Wolf had someone to keep her in check this whole time."

Alston says with a laugh as Phoenix laughs a little awkwardly.

"Ahha, yeah. Have we met before? Since I've known Wolf for so long, I assume we have."

"Nah, I doubt it. Wolf and I go waaay back. Ain't that right?"

Alston says, looking past Phoenix at Wolf, who steps forward.

"Yeah! We used to go to daycare together with Jonah." Wolf says with a smile.

"Ah, I miss the man. Hope we get to see him again one day." Alston says nostalgically.

"Well, you'll get to see him. He might miss you since you're still so short!" Wolf says, pointing out the gap in their height to the short girl.

"It doesn't help he's a giant."

Alston says back. They laugh together as Phoenix watches them with a slightly upset look.

"This is weird… Wolf having friends? And I didn't even know…"

Phoenix says under her breath as Cole steps next to her, also staring at them.

"I would prefer she stay a lonely loser.."

Cole grumbles as he mopes. Tadashi stares at them before looking at Moshiro pushing past them toward the door.

"I appreciate the reunion but if we don't get into the classroom, we'll be late."

She says while opening the door only to find the rest of the class sitting quietly. She looks around and sees the teacher sitting in a chair at the front of the class with his feet up on a podium and arms behind his head. The teacher is the same man from the entrance ceremony wearing the mask and hat.

He sits quietly making no noise nor movements. The pack sweats seeing this before stepping into the classroom quietly and making their way to seats with their names on them. As Wolf sits down, she looks back noticing Cole staring at her with a blank gaze.

"Can I help you?." She whispers.

"No. I am merely thinking of the many ways I could beat you with only a leg of lamb."

Wolf gets angry and stands up abruptly.

"Alright, that's it!"

She shouts before suddenly stopping as the entire class stiffens up. They all turn and look at the teacher leaning back in his chair as he flinches a bit. They all sweat as the man then starts snoring loudly with a snot bubble growing from his nose.

"HE IS SLEEPING!"

The class shouts together as the bubble pops. He opens one eye and looks at the class before yawning and stretching his arms over his head. As he does this, the chair beneath him gives out and he crashes to the floor with a thud. The entire class sweats as they watch the man clumsily prop himself up on the podium.

"Uh, sir? Are you okay?" Phoenix asks, confused and concerned.

"Yes I am, thank you for asking, Phoenix."

She looks surprised by the fact he knew her name. Killian gets an excited look before raising his hand.

"Woah! What's my name??" He asks excitedly.

"Killian Kamui."

Killian looks at the others with sparkles in his eyes as they just roll theirs. The teacher then looks around at the other students before speaking their names as well.

"Law Jay. Octavia Brumana. Jeni Marchent."

He says as he shifts his gaze across the class before staring intently at Wolf making her a little nervous, noticing his gaze.

"Wolf Anderson." He says.

"And what is your name?" Moshiro asks, not entirely impressed by his knowledge of their names.

"Me? I'm… well, Nobody really." He says casually, placing his hand on his.

"Mr… Nobody?.." Saika says, confused.

"Professor, actually." He says while standing up, still at the front of the class.

"Professor Nobody, understood." Cole says boldly as Wolf rolls her eyes.

"Why is your name Professor Nobody, if I might ask?" Rye asks from their seat by the window towards the back of the class.

"That really depends on you. It is just a name afterall. I'm not really sure I would have an answer for that."

Professor Nobody says, now leaning on the pillar of the wall next to Rye's seat. They swing their head around, shocked at his sudden change in location. Everyone is in awe.

"What was that??" Harley, another student, asks with intense excitement.

"It was like there was no movement at all. Like he was…" Tadashi says softly.

"As if he was always there to begin with…"

Cole says, finishing Tadashi's thought. Despite this, a couple kids snicker in the back of the class.

"It seems like Mr. Nobody doesn't have any answers for much, huh?.." The kid whispers as the other kid giggles to himself.

"Oh, but I do have an answer to that."

Nobody says, now crouched between and behind the two students on the other side of the class. They turn in shock as Nobody stands up.

"Go ahead and pick up your things. You're expelled."

He says as the class is shocked and the students frightened.

"N-no way! You can't do that!" The student smirks, thinking so.

"Try and tell me what I can and cannot do again."

Professor Nobody says sharply but without anger or frustration in his voice. The student pulls back in fear nonetheless.

"I suggest you do what I say. You'll get to live much longer that way."

He says, calmly but intensely. The students lower their heads and do as they are told, slamming the door behind them. The others watch as they leave when Nobody starts speaking while making his way to the front of the class.

"If there is one thing you take away from my class, this is it." He says with his back turned to the class before turning around and looking at them. "I am here to grow your Soul, not make it for you. If the problem is in here," He taps on his chest. "-there is nothing I can do for you."

He says boldly as Wolf's eyes shine a bit admiring the man before her. His demeanor softens a bit as he leans back against the podium.

"Now, what do you say we get to know each other a bit before jumping into the good parts?" He asks the class as he smiles under his mask.

Down the hall, making their way to the class is Nazuna and Teach. As they talk, they see the two students stomping off from the class with frustrated looks on their faces. The teachers look confused before they realize. Nazuna chuckles a little with a look of disbelief.

"At this rate, he'll win the bet by the end of the week…"

"I can't believe this. We haven't even gotten in the class yet and he's already expelled two students!"

Teach says with a frustrated tone as he marches towards the class with Nazuna in tow. As soon as Teach gets to the door, he swings it openly aggressively, but suddenly stops and looks surprised, Nazuna doing the same. Moshiro is standing up as she speaks.

"There are only two: Hunter and Vanguard." She says.

"Exactly. And can anyone tell me why there are two classifications here at the Academy?"

Professor Nobody asks as Moshiro sits back down. Then another student, Galen, a larger boy with brunette hair swooped to one side and glasses on his face, stands up.

"Hunters are usually the more strategic in the pair. They generally aren't as strong and focus more on technique and support in the partnership. Vanguard is the other side of that coin. They are the strength of the operation. They go in and cause a mess, blasting damage and executing the Hunter's plans."

Galen says confidently. Nobody nods softly.

"And the importance?"

Galen goes to answer but before he can, a voice speaks out.

"It's so you don't die."

Some students are surprised and look to see the confident boy from the ceremony speaking again as he casually sits in his seat. Professor Nobody smirks under his mask.

"Exactly." He says while getting up and walking down the center of the classroom. "We partner one Hunter to one Vanguard in an attempt to ensure the safety of our agents, and civilians. Ideally, the partnership creates a rounded team that can handle any mission our students are sent on. 4th and 5th Tiers are allowed to handle missions on their own due to their power and experience but any Tier below, like the 1st Tiers you are, must be accompanied by their partners to go on any mission for the ASA."

He then turns around and starts walking towards the front of the class. As soon as he makes it back to the front, he sharply turns around and points a finger at the class.

"And that is what the Eval Tournament is all about."

He says excitedly. Before he can go on, Teach's eyes widen and he steps into the class.

"Okay, okay, hang on a second. Let's not get ahead of ourselves now."

He says as he waves his hands a little, stepping up next to Nobody. Professor Nobody turns and looks at him with a smugly amused look as Nazuna steps to the other side of Nobody.

"We should probably handle some basic education first before talking about the stressful part."

Teach says. Nobody stares at him for a moment before looking at the class.

"And this ancient relic that somehow escaped the basement of the Academy is Teach. I'm sure some of you may know him already-"

"That's Director Teach! One of Southpaw's right hands! In the flesh!"

Nobody speaks before being interrupted by an excited student, Jeni. Nobody sweats a little as his eye twitches. Teach smirks.

"Yes, that is I. And I will be the one in charge of the physical training here at the Academy." Teach says.

Noticing his reaction to the interruption, Saika stares at Nobody for a moment before speaking.

"Professor, are you a Director as well?"

Caught off guard by the question, Nobody sweats awkwardly and turns to him slowly.

"Ah, well, you know how these things go.." He turns away a little and grumbles. "Southpaw turned me down, that jerk..."

He mumbles as Nazuna elbows him a little.

"You didn't want the position anyway. You only wanted it to spite Teach, you jerk." She says with a smirk before looking at the class, specifically the two empty seats towards the back. Her eyes lower a bit with an annoyed look as she looks back as Nobody.

"Speaking of being a jerk... It looks like we're missing a couple students." She says, looking at Nobody with a raised eyebrow. He just chuckles nervously.

"Yeah, Professor Nobody totally threw them out."

The student, Law, says casually. Nazuna looks a little surprised before turning to Nobody and speaking.

"Professor Nobody, huh? That's what you're going with this time?"

She asks softly, trying not to be too loud so the students can hear. Nobody quickly answers and moves on.

"Yeah, well, it just popped into my head and stuck, anyway. How about we go over a few basics of the Soul before throwing you into the Eval Tournament, shall we?"

Nobody says, shifting the conversations direction. Teach nods slightly as Phoenix sighs in relief.

"Finally, some proper education. I was worried we wouldn't-"

She says but before she can finish, Professor Nobody interrupts her.

"Who said anything about proper?"

He says with a smirk. Teach is shocked as Nazuna just smiles and shakes her head. Wolf and Alston laugh as Phoenix sweats a bit.

"Let's start with your abilities. Who can tell me how many Types there are?" Professor Nobody asks.

"There are 8 Types, sir."

Tadashi says while raising his hand. Teach steps forward with a subtly proud look.

"Yes, you are right-"

"Wrong, but let's go with that."

Professor Nobody interrupts. Teach glares at him a bit from the corner of his eye, slight frustration in the subtleties of his face. Tadashi sweats a bit, slowly lowering his hand as Moshiro looks confused and frustrated.
