Chapter 20 - **Chapter 19 – A Promise Fulfilled**

When Aiden Pentdragon landed amidst the frozen battlefield, surrounded by the corpses of ice beasts and shattered chunks of ice, his eyes immediately locked onto the girl with white hair and shining blue eyes. The chaos lightning around him crackled softly as he took a step forward, his boots crunching over the frost-covered ground.

When he saw luna he started reminiscing his past life

Memories vivid, raw, and painful but also beautiful rushed through his mind, tearing through the barrier of the present like a storm.he rememberd her as someone who had once been the light that guided him through his darkest years.

After the Category 6 Gate had obliterated his homeland in his previous life, Aiden had fled to America, one of the last bastions of organized resistance. But even there, life wasn't merciful. With two Sovereigns commanding America's military, pressure on other nations had pushed countless refugees into the grinding gears of their system. Aiden, broken and guilt-ridden, was among them.

He was only Level 3 then, and though he had a 3-star lightning affinity, it didn't enough to garner any respect as his level was at measly 3 His peers, many of whom were jealous or fearful of his talent and now relentless training, mocked him. Others beat him, sometimes in groups, angry that a foreigner with "no future" dared to outshine them in effort. But Aiden said nothing. He took every insult, every strike, and bled silently.

"I deserve this," he had told himself. "I was too weak. That's why I couldn't protect them."

One day, while he was lying bloodied against the training ground's wall after another beating, she appeared. Her white hair danced with the wind, her red eyes blazing with fury. With a flick of her wrist, bands of glowing light wrapped around his attackers, pulling them back like guilty children.

"What do you think you're doing?" she asked, her voice colder than the frost surrounding them.

They stammered apologies and fled, knowing well who she was—Luna Lightbringer, second in command of the American Army and the world's youngest Level 7 at the time.

She turned to Aiden, watching as he slowly stood, wiping blood from his lip.

"I've seen you train," she said quietly. "Why do you let them do this to you?"

"They're not wrong," Aiden had replied. "I was too weak when it mattered. If I had trained like this before, maybe I could've saved them. Now, I just have to keep going… no matter what."

Her gaze softened.

"Then maybe you're worth saving," she said. "If you want power, I'll teach you my secret. But let me warn you—it's painful. It can kill you. Most couldn't even survive the first day."

That was when Aiden was introduced to Resonant Fracturing, a brutal training technique that pushed the user's mana channels to their limits and beyond. The agony was unbearable. Every session felt like his body was being torn apart from within, but he never stopped.

Luna trained him personally, whenever she wasn't deployed on missions. Over time, they became more than just soldier and mentor. They became confidants—kindred spirits bound by pain and purpose.

He learned her story. How her gift, Absolute Freeze, could freeze time within a limited area for a few seconds—a power so rare and strong that even the Sovereigns feared it. But that gift had awakened only after her squad, her orphanage siblings, had died. Though she had survived and annihilated the enemy, the trauma left a scar that never healed.

"I don't hate the monsters as much as I hate the people who made us into weapons," she once told him, lying beneath the stars. "But I stay because my siblings are still under surveillance. I protect them by staying obedient."

Aiden remembered the quiet fury in her voice. The grief. The regret.

And he remembered what he had promised.

"One day," he'd told her, gripping her hand tightly, "I'll save your siblings… and I'll steal you away from all this."

She had laughed softly then, brushing his cheek with her fingers.

"Sure, my prince charming."

But he had failed. When the final Category 6 Gate opened in America, the world collapsed. Luna, even after reaching Level 9—the youngest ever—couldn't stop the tide. She died buying time for a hopeless evacuation trying to save him. Aiden, who had reached Level 6 by then, watched helplessly as the chaos devoured her and threw him into the abyss.

But now… now he had a second chance.

He was back.

And she was alive.

Her eyes, wide and awestruck, stared at him like he was a dream. Her squadmates—bloodied, scared, and barely conscious—stood behind her, shielding themselves from the still-fizzling remnants of his purple lightning. The battlefield had fallen silent.

Aiden walked up to her, the ice crunching under his steps, until they were only inches apart. Luna didn't flinch. Her pupils were trembling, searching his face, trying to make sense of what just happened.

He leaned in until their foreheads gently touched, his voice a whisper only she could hear.

"I've come to steal you."

Her breath hitched and her cheeks became red for some reason.

Before she could reply, he pulled out a sleek black device from his belt and pressed a button of a device aiden had gideon made now with full support of elena.A vortex of mana erupted, surrounding them in a golden glow. Her squad cried out in surprise as the teleportation rune activated.

And then—whoosh—they were gone.

Aiden, Luna, and her squad reappeared in a hidden military bunker deep within India's protected zone. Aiden had prepared it months in advance—one of his safehouses built in case of high-risk extractions. The moment they materialized, healers rushed to tend to Luna's injured team and her siblings from orphanage were all there too

Luna staggered, still dazed, and Aiden caught her by the shoulders.

"You… who are you?" she finally asked, her voice trembling.

Aiden smiled, the kind of smile he hadn't been able to wear in years.

"I'm someone who made you a promise once," he said. "And I finally kept it."

"What do you mean?" She said utterly confused

Aiden smiled"it's my gift I will explain it to you later?"

"Where… where did you take me?"

"Somewhere safe," Aiden said. "You don't have to fight anymore. Not alone.

The door opened behind them. Elena walked in, her eyes narrowing when she saw Luna.

"So this is the new guest?"

Luna turned, instinctively bristling with mana. Aiden quickly stepped between them.

"Elena, meet Luna. She's… important."

Elena raised an eyebrow, but nodded.

"Welcome to India," she said simply.

And just like that, Luna Lightbringer—second in command of the American Army, bearer of the Absolute Freeze, and survivor of countless battles—was given a second chance, just like Aiden had.

And this time, he wouldn't let the world take her from him.
