The little guy was somewhat reluctant, but eventually smacked his lips and drifted into a deep sleep.
Gu Mochen finished attending to Little Cubao and noticed Jian Ran's gentle gaze on both him and Little Cubao, so he approached proactively and said.
"It's already 2 AM, it's getting late. Go to sleep early, we'll have to wake up again around 4."
"Mm-hmm."
Jian Ran watched Gu Mochen sit beside her and snuggled into his arms, inhaling the familiar scent on him, feeling a deep sense of security.
Jian Ran let out a heavy yawn and nodded her head.
Gu Mochen, in turn, leaned down affectionately and kissed her forehead, speaking softly.
"Sleep, I'm here."
"Mm-hmm."
Just as Jian Ran was about to fall asleep, Gu Mochen's phone rang.
Jian Ran's eyes widened slightly, unable to help frowning, and she hoarsely asked,
"Whose call is it?"
"I'll check."
Gu Mochen stood up and walked toward the cabinet, his eyes catching the flashing phone screen on top, his thin lips pressed together.
