[Chapter Size: 1900 Words.]
Third Person POV
Prince Manor.
...
...
The conversation continued with Severus's grandfather sharing his memories about Eileen, while Severus's memories of his mother seemed like small fragments of his past, but they were still there.
Severus Snape truly loved his mother, but he didn't know how to deal with her properly.
He felt that, by the way she acted with him, it seemed like she didn't love him, treating him as a burden. And, when he saw her helplessness while suffering at the hands of Tobias, he certainly thought of his own helplessness in preventing his father from hitting her.
He ended up harboring resentment and anger toward his mother because of this, but he also felt even more ashamed of himself.
Not that he could do much against a drunk, when he couldn't use magic outside of school and was physically much weaker than Tobias. His body was that of a thin teenager — how could he stand against a drunken grown man?
"I'm sorry for what my Eileen had to go through. How could my children be so cruel as to do this to my daughter!?" the portrait muttered, with more hatred than sadness, yet seeing in his grandson's image something to be proud of.
"Tell me how the wretch is. Just tell me he's paying for everything he did..." the man concluded, wanting at least some satisfaction, even if there hadn't been a happy ending.
"He's certainly not doing well." Severus himself had beaten him several times since he returned to that house after the move. He didn't need to use magic, only punches, as if he wanted to turn me into a pulp of blood. Without any mercy. He not only suffered at Severus's hands, but also from the attacks directed at him while Death Eaters and dark wizards were after Severus, searching for information — meaning, Tobias was tortured.
Tobias, at this moment, must have been in the worst time of his life, still recovering from all the damage he had taken from all sides since last year. But that didn't matter to Severus. He explained the situation, and the man in the portrait seemed a little satisfied — but not enough.
"He should have suffered more," Severus's grandfather concluded, while the grandson shrugged.
"There's nothing to be done now. It doesn't matter. The man already lives his miserable life and is at the end of it anyway. Anyway, I'm heading out. It was good to see you," Severus said, finishing his coffee.
"Master Prince, let me clean the table. One more thing: a phoenix has arrived, she's waiting. She didn't let anyone take her message and said it was for you to see as soon as possible." Genini said.
"Alright, I'll check it," he said. It was clearly from Headmaster Dumbledore. At least he hadn't sent his Patronus, which would have been irritating.
Severus reached the entrance hall. He knew Rosária was training beneath the mansion. He quickly saw Fawkes, who perked up upon seeing him, never forgetting his loyalty to the Shadow Monarch after serving him, even his shadows were greeting the phoenix with joy — which was strange, in a way.
"Hello, Fawkes," Severus greeted with a small smile, stroking her feathers before taking the letter from her feet. Dumbledore had used the phoenix on purpose, knowing that Severus wouldn't reject Fawkes.
The letter was simple: the headmaster wanted a meeting to discuss the Horcruxes, saying he had some clues and important memories that could lead them to the objects. But Severus ignored it; after all, it made no sense to him, since he had the Shadow of the last Horcrux created.
"Go back to Dumbledore, Fawkes, I'll handle this myself." Severus said in the end, and the phoenix disappeared.
Severus then called the house-elves and summoned Rosária, asking if she wanted to go with him after Voldemort's soul fragments. She, however, didn't think twice before approaching Severus, saying she would also take part.
Severus had asked Voldemort's Shadow to point out where the nearest Horcrux was hidden. With a map of Great Britain in hand, the shadow quickly pointed to one of the corners, in a distant village.
Upon leaving the mansion, he found the garden with its structure completely destroyed. When he saw it, Severus sighed. He hadn't put Atlas and his mate away, and they had really gone out destroying everything. With a flick of his wand, at least everything began to rebuild itself. Atlas, alongside his mate, was still playing in the grounds. His eyes went to the female, and he noticed something.
"She's pregnant," he commented, looking at Atlas's mate.
"You just found out? It's been over a month," Rosária said. Severus hadn't paid attention to the animals to notice it, but he could sense it through his magical detection when he looked more closely at the female graphorn's belly.
"I see. Either way, this isn't important now," Severus said quickly. A shadow began to expand around them. Rosária was surprised, before the shadow began to rise, lifting her and Severus upward.
"What is this?" she exclaimed, seeing a black Wyvern forming at that moment. This was Baran's mount — or, at least, that false Baran's in the demonic tower.
Once it was complete, the massive creature roared, frightening both the graphorns and the house-elves, who came out at that moment to check what was happening. Even the Aurors outside the property heard the roar.
Severus simply gave the command, and the wyvern soared into the sky with him, grabbing Rosária before she fell, with a spell fastening her legs to the creature. Even standing, she could keep her balance as they advanced higher.
Severus cast his stealth ability on himself, on Rosária, and on the creature so the Aurors wouldn't notice they were leaving on the back of a beast. Soon they reached the clouds, soaring through the air. The goal was simple: to go to the first village in search of the Horcrux.
After a while, Severus canceled the invisibility, while Rosária seemed more pleased to enjoy the ride, traveling all afternoon among the clouds.
"This is more romantic than yesterday's dinner," she said with joy, trying to grab the clouds.
When night came, the village was finally in sight. The wyvern began to descend again, becoming visible once more, with Severus landing in an open field.
He and Rosária dismounted, and the creature turned into shadow, returning to the darkness beneath Severus's feet.
This time, he released another shadow — Tom himself — asking him to show the exact location. The being pointed to a small house on top of a hill.
"This place is full of magical protections," Rosária murmured, and Severus agreed with a nod, sensing the mystical barriers.
Severus was about to release Kargalgan, or even Voldemort himself could be released, but he needed to enhance his magical skills. Looking ahead and thinking he could have some good training with counter-curses there, he would certainly gain some experience. His wand began to point forward.
"Maximum Revelio!" he pronounced quickly. The entire place was filled with a brilliant magical sweep, while several barriers began to appear before them, visible to the naked eye.
"You can do that? Incredible! I've never seen a Revelio like this..." Rosária couldn't help but be surprised. She didn't know there was a revelation spell so powerful it could show barriers and how they were made.
He said nothing and simply began studying the barriers, quickly identifying how to break them. He cast countermeasures against the first barrier, breaking it easily the moment he began, and thus they were able to reach the grounds and advance toward the abandoned house.
Severus kept breaking the barriers around the house — both the explosive traps and those laden with curses — all made to harm anyone who approached uninvited. The last barrier was the house's own door, which exploded into splinters the moment Severus penetrated it.
Once he deactivated it, nothing else kept him from reaching the house. The shadow was beside him and entered it, going straight to the hiding place and opening it, pulling out a protected object. They revealed a box.
Severus opened it with telekinesis and, at the center, there was a ring.
"A ring?" Severus scoffed, while Rosária was stunned. Before she could speak, he was already holding it. In an instant, he felt something strange: the ring carried the energy of death, deeply rooted in it, more than in any other object he had ever seen.
"This is a Deathly Relic!" Rosária exclaimed.
"Those from children's legends?" Severus said, keeping his eyes fixed on the object.
"Yes, they're real. My father himself had already found two of them, and this ring is among them. It's identical to the descriptions in the books. If someone placed a Horcrux, a piece of soul, in it, then it must be the real one, not a copy. But… I doubt he knows what this ring is, otherwise it wouldn't be here!" Rosária murmured, furrowing her brow.
Severus took the ring, feeling a dark aura begin to manifest.
"The piece of soul isn't in the stone, but in the metal… the ring is being affected by the stone itself, which is why the metal was chosen to be the Horcrux... So let's separate that stone," he said.
He broke it carefully using only the strength of his hands, removing the stone, and pointed the metal of the ring forward, where his shadow awaited.
"Arise." he said, and the energy began to flow out of the ring, moving directly into the shadow, completing its third part. [3/7]
"That was easy... now, can you explain to me what this stone does?" Severus asked Rosária, watching everything in silence, though clearly surprised.
"This is the Stone of Death... my father said it can speak with the dead. He wanted it to speak with my mother. It can summon a dead person from the realms of the dead as you wish, and they can converse with you."
"That sounds rather remarkable..." Severus murmured suddenly, looking at the possibilities.
"I would love to see my mother..." Rosária murmured, staring intently at the stone in Severus's hand.
Suddenly, the stone began to shine...
[You have acquired the power of one of the Deathly Relics. As the one who controls death, with any Deathly Relic you possess, you will have access to summon any dead you wish, as long as their souls remain intact in the other world.]
The system notified him on a screen in front of Severus while he was mildly surprised. He was absorbing the power of the Deathly Relic in his hand until it stopped glowing. Suddenly, everything he felt from it vanished in that moment, and it seemed more like a useless stone than a true artifact.
"What happened?" Rosária seemed surprised.
"Let's just say I've acquired an interesting ability... But first, let's test it." Severus said, taking Rosária's arm and disappearing the next moment.
They appeared somewhere else in the country as Severus chose a quiet forest far from any curious eyes. There, only wildlife surrounded them, while they had a good view of the sky.
"Beautiful place... but why did you bring us here?" Rosária asked, knowing full well they weren't on a date.
"I want to test something... Watch closely."
