"Uncle Shanhua, what exactly did the doctor say?" An Yiqing pulled Uncle Shanhua to another corner of the corridor, out of Xia Hao's earshot.
Shanhua glanced at An Yiqing and sighed, "Old Xia and his wife were seriously injured. An entire truckload of sand overturned, completely crushing the car. By the time the police pulled them out of the car, they were already unrecognizable and bloody. The doctor says that it's not just a matter of whether they can be treated; it's a question of whether they can be saved at all. It's almost certain they won't make it!"
An Yiqing had already anticipated this situation; surgery was just a formality before death, a gesture for the family to cling to.
"Uncle Shanhua, have the rest of the Xia Family arrived?" An Yiqing looked around the corridor, finding only a few policemen and managers from the Xia Family Restaurant present, with no sign of Old Lady Xia and the others.
