Chapter 8 - Chapter 8: Shocked Meg

On June 3, 1988, Ellie was going to the cinema with her only friend, Annie.

Annie said, "Hey Eleanor, why do you always drag me to the cinema if you want to watch movies?"

Ellie replied, "Of course, to support Connor's first movie, you know, the singer from the bar that I told you about last time."

Annie was surprised and exclaimed, "Wow, you already know him? How did you develop your relationship? Is he in love with you?" She was really happy because it's the second time that Ellie talked to her about a boy; the first time was when she met him in the bar.

Ellie's smile disappeared, and she replied, "No, he already has a girlfriend," a little unsure of herself.

Annie immediately said, "So what? Someone can even seduce a married man because she loves him. And what about you? He just has a girlfriend, and they are probably not even married. How can you already give up?"

Encouraged by her friend, Ellie, when they arrived at the theater, saw the poster of Connor, and he looked as handsome as ever, even though he dyed his hair black. Then they successfully bought two tickets for the movie.

Michael, a movie critic from a Los Angeles newspaper, was invited by Twentieth Century Fox for a movie with an unknown actor. But never mind, he still came to the theater to see the movie.

Josh, now portrayed by Connor (Mildas), initially struggles with his newfound adult body but soon finds himself working at a toy company called MacMillan Toys. He befriends his coworker, Billy Kopecki, and impresses the company's owner, Mr. MacMillan, with his childlike enthusiasm and fresh perspective on toys.

As Josh navigates adult life, he experiences the challenges of relationships, work, and responsibility. He forms a romantic relationship with Susan Lawrence, a high-ranking executive at the toy company, while grappling with the moral dilemma of hiding his true identity.

Throughout the film, Josh's childlike innocence and honesty charm those around him, but he longs to return to his own body and childhood. He eventually realizes that being an adult is not all it's cracked up to be and decides to search for the fortune-telling machine to reverse the wish.

In the emotional climax of the movie, Josh finds the machine and wishes to be a kid again. He wakes up back in his 12-year-old body and reunites with his family, appreciating the joys of childhood and the importance of being true to oneself.

After the movie ended, Michael was deeply shocked by the actor who played Josh. He played a lifelike role, and there was not a jerkiness about him; he was really good.

Annie and Ellie finished watching the movie and were deeply shocked, especially Annie, who remembered that the boy was only a bar singer when she first saw him. The only reason she remembers him is because of her friend, and at the same time, she is a little worried about her friend because if he became popular, she didn't think that Ellie would have much chance of being with him.

As for Ellie, she didn't think much; she was really just happy because Connor took a big step towards his goal. She remembers that he said to her that he came from Ireland last year and he worked in the bar just to meet his needs.

Today is June 6, the day after the release of the movie. It received good responses, so the number of theaters was upgraded to 1,132. Although he knew that thanks to this movie, Tom Hanks won the Golden Globe for Best Actor in a Comedy and was nominated for an Oscar, he was still worried. But when he received a call from Penny saying that the movie grossed $8,300,190 from June 3rd to June 5th, he knew that he succeeded. He immediately called his family and told them the news and at the same time shared his time with Dolores, who joined a band called The Cranberry Cry thanks to his suggestions two years in advance.

After calling his family, he called Ellie and shared the news with her. She screamed with excitement and laughed; obviously, she was happy.

When Meg returned home, she saw Connor screaming and running to her. After hugging her, he immediately shouted, "Meg, I succeeded, I succeeded! Haha, Penny called me and said that the movie successfully grossed $8 million in three days."

Meg was intensely shocked. Although she was a little envious that her boyfriend got a role as the male lead of a movie, she didn't think that the movie would be successful. She just felt a little pressed, but now, she immediately felt sour in her heart because she knew that her boyfriend instantly surpassed her and became a second-rate actor. After all, Hollywood doesn't care about anything apart from your success and failure.

But she also knew that it's her chance because as the girlfriend of a second-rate movie star and someone who participated in "Top Gun," she will definitely be more exposed by the media, which means that she will have more opportunities.
