Chapter 209 - Chapter 206:Indigo League Finals – Ash Ketchum vs Giselle (Part 1)

The roar of the Indigo Plateau had reached a fever pitch that felt almost physical a wall of sound pressing against every chest in the stadium. Eighty thousand voices fused into one continuous, living thunder. The field gleamed under the floodlights: fresh turf, crisp white lines, no trace left of yesterday's craters or mud. But the energy was heavier than ever. Everyone knew this wasn't just a finals match. This was history. This was legend against arrogance. This was Ash Ketchum against Giselle.

The announcer's voice cut through the chaos like a blade.

"Ladies and gentlemen! The Indigo League Finals begin NOW! Trainer Giselle has won the coin toss and will send out first!"

Giselle stood on her platform, long brown hair flowing in the artificial breeze, designer outfit pristine, chin lifted in that practiced pose of untouchable superiority. Inside, though, her stomach twisted. Last night Lorelei had drilled into her: "Do NOT lose. The family name cannot afford it." Lorelei had handed her two Poké Balls Cloyster and Dewgong with a warning: "These are Elite Four-level Pokémon. You must command them perfectly, or they will ignore you."

Giselle had nodded outwardly confident. But now, staring across at Ash's calm, unshakable expression, she felt the first real crack in her armor.

She tossed her first ball with forced bravado.

"Cloyster! Show him what real power looks like!"

The ball burst open. Cloyster materialized massive, armored shell clamped tight, spikes gleaming like black ice under the lights. A cold aura rolled off it immediately, frost forming on the grass around its base. The crowd gave a respectable cheer Cloyster was a known beast, especially when people realized it carried Lorelei's signature icy presence.

Giselle smirked, trying to project control.

Ash just looked at the Pokémon for a long moment calm, almost bored.

Then he reached to his belt, selected an Ultra Ball, and tossed it lightly into the air.

The ball opened with a soft, almost gentle pop.

A wave of arctic cold swept across the entire stadium sudden, sharp, breathtaking. Frost raced outward from the center of the field in fractal patterns. Breath fogged in mid-air. Spectators in the lower bowls pulled jackets tighter. The temperature dropped ten degrees in seconds.

Then from above wings.

Massive, ethereal wings of shimmering blue-white descended through the stadium lights. Articuno appeared not bursting from a ball like a normal Pokémon, but gliding down from the sky itself, as though it had always been there, watching. Its feathers caught the light like frozen starlight. Its eyes ancient, piercing locked onto Cloyster. The legendary bird of ice hovered above the field, frost swirling around its body like a living blizzard.

The stadium went completely silent for one heartbeat.

Then eruption.

Screams, gasps, roars pure, unfiltered shock and awe. Phones were thrust skyward. Children climbed onto seats. Adults stood frozen, mouths open. The jumbotron zoomed in so close you could see individual ice crystals on Articuno's wings.

Commentator 1 (voice breaking, almost screaming): "ARTICUNO?! Ash Ketchum just released ARTICUNO! The legendary bird of ice! This… this is impossible! No one saw this coming!"

Commentator 2 (barely coherent): "The temperature just dropped fifteen degrees! Look at that aura! That presence! Giselle's Cloyster… it's facing a literal legend!"

Professor Oak watching from his home in Pallet Town, a bowl of special noodles halfway to his mouth spat them across the table. His eyes were wide, glasses slipping down his nose.

"Articuno… in the Indigo Finals… Ash, you crazy boy…"

In Petalburg City, may nearly fell off from the table . "He has ARTICUNO?!"

Max pushed his glasses up with shaking fingers. "That's… that's a legendary…"

Norman stared at the screen, arms still folded. "The boy's been holding back… a lot."

In Ecruteak City, Morty's Gengar hissed softly. Morty leaned forward, eyes wide. "A legendary bird… in Kanto's finals. That aura… it's overwhelming."

Jasmine gripped the armrest. "He's not playing around anymore."

In Canalave City, Professor Rowan's Staraptor ruffled its feathers. Rowan adjusted his glasses slowly. "Articuno… in the hands of a young trainer. This changes everything we know about bonds."

In the Kingdom of Rota, Queen Ilene's hand rose to her mouth.whispered, "… a legendary bird of ice… in battle…"

Ilene's voice was soft. "The legends are waking."

Giselle's smug smile vanished. Her face drained of color. She stared at Articuno at the sheer, ancient power radiating from it and felt her knees tremble.

"Y-you… you have Articuno?!"

Ash's voice was calm, almost gentle.

"You wanted to humiliate me. Now you know how it feels."

He looked at Articuno.

"Articuno Ice Beam."

Articuno opened its beak. A blinding beam of pure ice fired sweeping across the field like a frozen laser.

Cloyster clamped its shell tight but the beam struck dead-center. Frost exploded outward. Ice spread across Cloyster's spikes, freezing them solid. The water/ice-type tried to counter with Spike Cannon sharp icicles launching but Articuno simply flew higher, dodging effortlessly.

Giselle: "Cloyster Aurora Beam!"

Cloyster fired a multicolored beam. Articuno met it with its own Ice Beam. The two beams clashed ice against ice but Articuno's power overwhelmed. The Aurora Beam shattered. The backlash struck Cloyster like a hammer.

Cloyster staggered, shell cracking under the pressure.

Giselle's voice cracked. "No… no!"

Ash: "Blizzard."

Articuno flapped its wings once.

A massive blizzard erupted snow and ice whipping across the field in a howling storm. Cloyster was caught in the center frozen solid in seconds. The spikes on its shell turned blue-white, then shattered under the weight of the ice.

"Cloyster is unable to battle! Ash Ketchum leads 1-0!"

The crowd was deafening "ARTICUNO! ARTICUNO! ARTICUNO!"

Giselle recalled Cloyster with shaking hands. Her smug mask was gone. Tears welled in her eyes not from sadness, but from sheer, crushing humiliation.

She looked at Ash at the calm, merciless trainer who had just destroyed her aunt's Pokémon in seconds and felt something inside her break.

But she wasn't done.

She threw her next ball desperate now.

"Vaporeon! Please… do something!"

Vaporeon appeared sleek, elegant, but visibly nervous facing Articuno.

The crowd was deafening.

"Articuno continue."

Articuno hovered higher wings spreading. It unleashed Hurricane a freezing storm that combined wind and ice. Vaporeon tried to counter with Hydro Pump but the water froze mid-air, turning into razor-sharp icicles that rained down.

Vaporeon dodged frantically but Articuno was relentless. A single Ice Beam struck true. Vaporeon collapsed, shivering, unable to move.

"Vaporeon is unable to battle! Ash leads 2-0!"

Giselle's legs buckled. Tears welled in her eyes.

"You… you have two legendaries?!"

Ash's voice was calm.

"Three."

The stadium lost its mind again.

Giselle sweating, trembling threw her next ball.

"Electabuzz! End this!"

Electabuzz appeared fists crackling with electricity.

Ash finally recalled Articuno. "Good job. Return."

The crowd groaned disappointed not to see more of the ice bird.

But then Ash tossed another Ultra Ball.

The sky darkened instantly. Clouds rolled in black, heavy, crackling with lightning.

A piercing cry split the air.

Zapdos descended wings crackling with golden electricity, eyes glowing yellow, body surrounded by a storm of sparks.

The stadium detonated again.

Commentator 1 (screaming): "ZAPDOS! Ash Ketchum just released ZAPDOS! Two legendary birds in one battle! This is beyond anything we've ever witnessed!"

Commentator 2: "Giselle is sweating! She's a genius, but she's facing two legends! This isn't a finals match this is a coronation!"

Giselle was a mess hair disheveled, makeup smearing from tears, hands shaking so badly she almost dropped the ball.

"You… you have Zapdos too?!"

Ash's voice was calm.

"Last one's coming."

Giselle close to breaking shouted, "Electabuzz Thunder Punch!"

Electabuzz charged fist glowing yellow.

Ash: "Zapdos Thunderbolt."

Zapdos didn't even move. A single, blinding bolt fired from its body striking Electabuzz mid-charge. The electric-type convulsed, sparks exploding off its body, then collapsed.

"Electabuzz is unable to battle! Ash leads 3-0!"
