He exhaled—a long, trembling sigh that made the captain's spine stiffen like iron.
"You have no clue," the lord said quietly, his tone dropping into a deadly calm that chilled the air itself. "You have no idea. You've found no trace, no lead, no scent of the one responsible. Tell me—what use do you serve? Why do I keep you?" His voice rose, thunder rumbling in his chest. "TELL ME!?"
The roar erupted through the chamber like an explosion. The sound shattered the nearby windows; shards rained down in glittering arcs, slicing through the heavy silence.
The captain's nose began to bleed. His body screamed to move, but he stayed still as stone.
He knew one thing: if he moved even an inch, he would die.
