Agni Igris paused before he spoke his thoughts aloud, "I don't think that the case is as simple as possession or a puppet. The demon had existed in the past driven by its own source, or it wouldn't have had a soul in the first place"
Arthur exhaled slowly. "Then it might not be the demons we're at war with. But whoever—or whatever—is using them."
Agni stood and walked toward the projection of the world map. "Every major kingdom has been marked now. Even the neutral realms."
"And the marks appear the same?" Merlin asked.
Agni nodded. "But the Ki signature changes slightly in each region. It adapts to the environment—like a parasite mimicking the host."
"That suggests intelligence from the pentagrams, or at least a connection that can be investigated," Arthur said.
"Or it could've been programmed to act like that before being placed," Merlin muttered.
