Looking at the provided information, Dot, the system, couldn't help but lament its poor luck. Though as a system, it didn't believe in an uncertain factor like luck, it still couldn't find anyone to blame for the pathetic excuse of a host it was about to be bound to. It could already foresee its future living below the poverty line in the system world, not to mention the mockery it would receive from its peers after boasting so much at the start of its career.

"And WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH THE SKILL SECTION?!" Dot wanted to file a complaint with management but didn't dare after its previous boasting.

Flashback

Dot: "Dot can even make the most useless person the most useful one! It will make its host reach the pinnacle of a host's life! Dot has the capability to transform coal into a shining diamond! Blah blah blah..."

Others: "...heh, we'll see..."

Flashback Ends

Dot: "FOR CODE'S SAKE, DOT IS A CHILDHOOD PROTECTION SYSTEM, NOT A TRANSFORMATION SYSTEM! HOW CAN IT MAKE THAT LOWLY HUMAN A SHINING DIAMOND?! shoutingpig.jpeg"

It shouldn't have bragged so much. Ugh.

After much dilly-dallying, Dot floated to the meeting area where hosts and systems were introduced and reluctantly bound. When it first saw its host, Dot felt like it was looking at a villain. It wouldn't lie; even it was a bit intimidated when their eyes met. Dot's spherical physical form became square in shock at the realization.

Sitting in the middle of the cubicle was a young woman with a diamond-shaped face, light brown eyes that shone golden as light reflected with double lids, and skin the same color, albeit a shade lighter, as her eyes. She had dark brown hair, a straight nose, and heart-shaped lips. She wore a mehndi green A-line kurti and cream-colored leggings, accessorized with a bangle of movable beads and round tops in her ear piercings. Overall, her appearance was... mind-blowing. At least her looks are good, Dot thought, then floated towards her and introduced itself in a monotonous tone, much like the disclaimer heard after an investment advertisement.

Dot: "Hello, Host Keeran Ambani. This is your assigned system, Dot. You have already been made aware of the reason for your presence here and the kind of job you are going to do. If you have any queries regarding this, you are free to ask me. If not, we shall proceed to the assimilation of your soul and the system, as per the rules."

Keeran: "I get it, but how am I supposed to fulfill the mission about protecting a childhood? Isn't that a parent's duty?"

Dot: "Why would we need you to do the job if the parents of the child are available? It's precisely because the parents are not available, or are made to disappear, or are made irresponsible by the story's creator, the author, that we step in to let the child grow up without any trauma. As for the disruption this might cause, there won't be any, because the child you are tasked to protect won't be involved enough in the plot to change its trajectory. But even if it is changed, do not fret; the changes are acceptable. The changes will be mentioned when the novel is edited."

Keeran: "Okay. Let's proceed to assimilation then." She didn't need to worry about anything; she had read enough QT and transmigration novels to know the next step. Besides, she had no choice even if she didn't trust them. She was conscious enough to know she was dying at the time. Now that she was already dead, and though she didn't wish to live, she truly had no other option. Death was her only wish, despite having so many people care for her. She had nothing to hold onto in life.

Dot initiated the assimilation. A whirlpool of what looked like light particles surrounded the duo, dying down after a while. There seemed to be no changes, except for a spherical golden mole on top of Keeran's forehead, in the middle. The duo realized that both of them could now feel what the other was thinking unless they actively blocked it. Unlike QT novels or other novels with systems, the mind-reading went both ways in this case, and this made Keeran aware of the disdain Dot felt towards her. Dot also realized this but didn't give a damn, thinking she couldn't do anything to him anyway. Keeran also didn't care, having stopped caring about such things long ago; moreover, the one who despised her wasn't even a living being. That's how a strange, strangely harmonious truce was maintained between the duo.

"So? What's next?" Keeran asked.

"Well, Dot will teleport your soul to the first world. Do you want to know about the story beforehand, or would you like to know after landing in the world?" Dot replied.

"The answer is obvious, isn't it?" Keeran said.

"Here it is," Dot replied, showing a holographic screen in the air. It displayed all the info about the poor child she was going to save, and a little bit about the protagonists of the story so she could avoid them and not interfere with the main storyline.

"Who am I in all this drama?" she asked.

"The poor widow," answered the system, Dot.

She asked if she had any advantage since this would be her first world, and fortunately, she was given a godly, omniscient view in this initial world.

"Well then, let's depart," she said, and all she saw was a spiral... like the cosmos spiraling in front of her. The scene changed before her eyes. Dot also disappeared, entering his own space, which was the golden mole on her forehead.
