Liam realized that the deputy squad had received Gavin's orders, so he relaxed and instructed everyone to follow Simon's armored vehicle to his residence in the nearby town.
Simon lived in the most luxurious single-family villa in town, surrounded by armed guards and tight security.
He led the group into an underground warehouse and spoke to Kendall, the "temporary translator":
"Beautiful young female soldier, please tell your captain he can take as much gasoline as he needs. You can even leave a contact. Whenever you're short on fuel, no matter where you are, my people will deliver it to you personally."
Kendall translated faithfully for Liam.
Liam sneered inwardly, knowing Simon was only flattering the Special Forces in hopes of gaining Valmani's favor. He replied indifferently, "Thank you, Mr. Simon, for your generosity. We only need a few barrels—and we won't take them for free. We'll pay the current international market price."
