Chapter 5: The Jealous Storm and the Wounded Heart

After that unforgettable night, Yiyi returned to work at her job as a cashier at the Ken Group—one of the top 40 richest companies in T City, China. The salary was decent, but her humble background made her stand out, and not in the best way.

"Yin!" A familiar voice squealed, and before Yiyi could react, Nan Nan leapt on her, hugging her like she might vanish.

"Nan… I missed you," Yiyi smiled warmly, her eyes slightly red.

Nan Nan pulled back and stared at her. "Where did you disappear to after the club? Do you know how worried I was?"

Yiyi sighed heavily. "Let's just say… bad luck found me."

Nan Nan looked suspicious. "I heard rumors... something about you marrying Young Master Dong Jinye. Is it true?" she whispered.

Yiyi hesitated, then gave a small nod.

"What?! What about Zhilli Chang? You were engaged!"

Yiyi's eyes dimmed. "I know... but..." And then, she told Nan Nan everything—from that fateful night in the hotel room to the forced marriage that followed. By the time she finished, Nan Nan's mouth hung open in stunned silence.

"You mean... Dong Jinye took advantage of you?" Nan Nan asked, shocked.

"Well… I guess I kind of walked into it myself," Yiyi muttered, guilty. "I entered his room first…"

Just then, Yiyi's phone rang. Her heart skipped a beat when she saw the caller ID.

"Young Master," she whispered, quickly answering. Whatever he said made her nod. "I'll be done by 4:00 p.m.," she replied softly before hanging up, her hand pressed against her chest to calm her racing heart. Then, hand-in-hand with Nan Nan, she returned to her post.

After Work – Parking Lot

As Yiyi stepped into the parking lot, ready to leave, she was suddenly pulled into a tight hug by strong, familiar arms.

"Zhilli!" she gasped, struggling to break free.

Just then, a black Maybach entered the parking lot.

Inside the car, Yanji turned to look nervously at Jinye, who sat in complete silence, his aura growing darker by the second. "Should I go check it out?" Yanji asked cautiously. But Jinye, cold and unreadable, simply said, "No need. Let her enjoy."

Zhilli, handsome as ever, with striking fiery-red hair and fierce brown eyes, held her tightly. "Why should I let go? You're my fiancée! We're supposed to marry in five days!"

"I'm already married," Yiyi said quietly, trying to wriggle free.

Zhilli's grip only tightened as he pinned her against a car. "Liar!" he barked. He grabbed her wrists and held them above her head, ignoring her pleas.

From the Maybach, Jinye couldn't hear what they were saying—but when he saw Yiyi's painful expression and her soft cry, his fists clenched, and a dangerous glint appeared in his eyes.

Nan Nan arrived just in time and slapped Zhilli hard across the face. "You bastard! She said let her go!"

Zhilli growled and turned to strike Nan Nan—but Yiyi took the hit in her place.

THUMP.

She crashed into a nearby car, her face scraping against the sharp edge, blood trickling from her temple.

"Yiyi!!" Nan Nan cried, rushing to her side as tears streamed down her cheeks. "What have you done?!"

Zhilli raised his foot to kick them again, but suddenly—

CRACK.

He fell to the ground, screaming. Jinye had arrived.

Jinye knelt beside Yiyi and gently gathered her in his arms. "Yin... Yin, stay awake, please."

"Yanji," he said darkly, "kill this bastard for touching her."

"No... don't kill him…" Yiyi mumbled weakly, clutching Jinye's shirt.

Yanji paused, waiting for clarification. Jinye nodded slowly. "Fine. Don't kill him. Break his legs. Scar his face. Make sure he regrets breathing."

Before Yanji could obey, Nan Nan slapped Zhilli three times across the face. "You monster! You claim to love her and still hurt her like this?! She's married now—get over it!"

Yanji stayed behind to deal with Zhilli as Jinye carried his wounded wife to the hospital.

Dong Mansion – Later That Night

Yiyi lay on the bed, her cheek bruised and bandaged. Jinye sat beside her, looking completely unlike his usual aloof self.

"I'm sorry I came late," he said, his voice heavy.

"It's not your fault," Yiyi replied with a weak smile, but the movement made her wince.

"I saw him holding you," Jinye confessed. "I thought... I thought you were enjoying it. So I stayed in the car, giving you two space. But then I saw his hand on your throat—and I realized too late…"

"You should've come, even if it was what you thought," Yiyi whispered. "Remind me I have a husband. Someone who won't let me suffer alone."

Jinye stared at her, pain flashing in his eyes. He reached out and gently pulled her into his embrace. "I promise, Yin... even if we didn't marry out of love, I'll never let anyone hurt you again."

Yiyi clung to him, her tears finally falling, safe in the arms of the man who had been a stranger—and now maybe… just maybe… something more.
