Chapter 9 - Something Worthwhile

After yuki fought shadow for another 5 hours, he decided to start fighting magical beasts in the wild where he would be exposed to danger and be able to hone his battle experience. Honestly, currently he felt like he had rich battle experience but didn't know how to utilize it.

"Shadow, how does it feel to look down on the world?" asked yuki suddenly while resting, sitting side by side with shadow on the grass over looking the lake in the pavilion. "What do you mean young master? At my level I don't dare look down on the world, there are many more individuals stronger than me out there, I'm nothing but a fish in the pond" said shadow chuckling. Unfortunately yuki was not able to appreciate it as he was focused on shadow's words, he just asked that question to know how many stronger people are out there in the original world, the real world.

"Now my desire as gotten stronger and my resolve is intensified. Shadow, from today henceforth we shall stop training, I would like to go and fight the beasts in the forest outside the clan's area." Said yuki with a glowing light flashing through his eyes. "Heh, young master, what made you think you'll get stronger like that. Training with me you'll get a lot stronger than fighting beasts out there" said shadow startled by yuki's words.

"Shadow I know you just want to protect me, but we keep moving forward, opening new doors, and doing new things, because we're curious and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths. I'm no more young, besides won't I be leaving the clan soon. I have to train and face the outside world a little before leaving truly, right?" said yuki in a serious tone. Seeing yuki's firm resolve, shadow decided to allow him. "I'll talk to the patriarch and see if he agrees, don't worry I'll try my best young master" finally said shadow in a solemn tone after being silent for some time. "I know shadow you never leave things half done and I believe you will never disappoint me besides my father sees you as a brother not a servant, you guys date back for a long time right?" said yuki.

Hearing this shadow's brain first short circuited, "What do you mean young master?" asked shadow nervously, he thought yuki had started regaining his memories. With regards to this both him and the patriarch were really insecure. "I just had that feeling that you people are more than subordinate and master…doesn't it reflect in your actions?" said yuki. At first, while listening to yuki shadow was tense but hearing the last part he was relieved.

"Okay young master if you'll excuse I'd like to go and inform the patriarch of your decision." Said shadow leaving yuki left alone by the lake. While enjoying the view of the lake yuki suddenly asked "Why did you tell me to add the last part?" although there was no one around him even in the shadows. "There are somethings you're not meant to know" the system suddenly voiced out in his head. "Even if it has something to do with me?" asked yuki very surprised with the reply of the system. "You're not a system right? More like a consciousness planted in my brain" said yuki. "You see I told you, you're not meant to know much. With this level of intelligence you have, won't keeping somethings from you be pointless after revealing some?" said the system chuckling, it was no more using a monotone voice but a male voice. "Nah, I'm not intelligent, I figured it out because I possess a little but mediocre skills in medicine." Said yuki while smirking thinking this was the first time he had exchanged a lot of words with the system while it also plus he now figured out it was more than a system. "Things are now getting interesting, it's like I'll not lack some fun for some time now." Yuki thought while laughing.
